Square, Don't let the Community ruin this game

This post isn't about AK, but simply that AK opened up my eyes to already present community issues

Edit: I've said this several times in the thread but I'm going to say this plain as day here.

I don't want speedruns nerfed or penalized in any fashion. I don't want anyone banned or in trouble, I think asking for that is selfish an only going to cause spite.

All I want is for trash to drop something--seals, gil, tokens--SOMETHING, and in a decent enough amount that players would be willing to kill for it.

Gil is probably not a good option but seals or a few tokens would be. In my opinion, either should drop to everyone in the group.

One of the things that comes with trying to attract other audiences is that you bring with it the habits and grievances of that audience. You have an opportunity to cushion against the issues that the audience faces, and those that they create, or you have the option to do nothing for too long.

If you look at Square Enix's history, they have a habit of doing nothing for too long. FFXIV's remake is unprecedented in AAA gaming, but so was the worldwide reaction to 1.0. Square does not need to let things go so far before they respond.

FFXI was notorious as well for the devs simply ignoring things that seemed like too much work until they festered bad enough or became worldwide news (18 hour PW).

They have a great game here, but there are issues that they cannot just sit on. They can't sweep these under the rug.

Unprecedented, too, in gaming is how two large playerbases are converging on each other. Three, actually:
    1. Legacy Players - They're used the game, they're geared. Some cannot fathom that a large portion of the playerbase is new to content.
    2. WoW (etc) Players - Like it, Hate it, SE said a long time ago they wanted 2.0 to be more like World of Warcraft and that 1.0's goal was "merely to be different from Final Fantasy 11", and it is in a lot of ways. That game has a very toxic community and tools like the random dungeon finder only made it worse.
    3. FFXI Players - Love it or hate it, FFXI was pretty unique in the MMO industry. There aren't a lot of games still in existence like it. Poor decision-making over there met with an appealing game here has drawn many (including me) here, though I try to remember they are different games...with the same races =p. FFXI has no community left anymore, but the players yearn for it. SE stopped making reputation matter, as it already doesn't here, and this is what you get.

Square Enix, you have to act fast. You can't mull things over here nor sit on your hands. If you're going to implement tools like Dungeon Finder, you need to implement incentive to use them and use them properly.

I've never run into one of these tanks or healers that simply won't do their job (I don't mean the ones that suck, I mean the ones that won't) but I can't imagine what motivates them. You can't let that behavior continue over, it's pissing in the pool.

My dungeon grinding experience to 50 was supremely positive, but I am a good tank. I know others, tanks and other roles, had problems with it, but it seemed mostly like the community I was also encountering were either A) also leveling their first job or two or B) Legacies that were coming back for storyline/logs but realized that they're in a newbie zone, and not to expect epic damage out of newbies.

My level cap experience has been hit or miss, I've done the three raids, and Ifrit Hard mode, one shotting them all. I did Wanderer's and the group new I was knew and merrily guided me along. They didn't tell me everything about the bosses, but they told me everything I needed to know.

I did another Wanderer's and everyone but me had never been there. I told them that it would be a mad zerg to the first boss, and we didn't really have a lot of choice. Our newbie butts made it in one piece. We wiped once on the Goobbue, I'm not sure why, and went back and stomped it and then we made our way to the custard and that's where we hit a wall. We simply did not have the DPS to beat him. We stuck together, trying, for about 40 minutes. Everyone remained positive, everyone gave feedback and opinions, and we kept trying. We didn't succeed but we tried.

    And then today...

    Adampor Keep.

I load in, say that I'm new and we start off. Kill one track back, and then bam, dragoon leaves. Fine, whatever, I don't know why (I do now), we continue on and another dragoon pops in. We get to first boss, they tell me how it works and we get to it. They insist that I don't need to tank the rock add, just stay with the big boss. We wipe a few times, and then I start tanking the rock add, and we succeed first go^^.

The next group, this happens first thing. One guy says he's knew and that he'll drop if they want to do a speed run. The healer laughs at him and two people bail.

    Utter nonsense.
    Third run, speed run.

    Fourth run, speed run.

    Fifth run, speed run.

Sixth run, speed run (I'm not kidding)

If anybody hints otherwise, people drop. The Legacy Community is colliding with the new community. Not cooperation, collision. Now I'm not saying it's everyone. It certainly is not, but it's frequent and unforgiving. I know there are nice people among legacies and jack***** among newbies, for sure.

I speak from experience. I've been a top tier raider in most games that I have played. I don't look down on newbies, and often find myself helping them, but I know that when the group is all in high end gear and some guy says "how do...?" it changes the group's whole potential.

I don't want to see people punished or any such nonsense), I want to see Square take some responsibility *now*, and help these two communities work together.

I'm a noob, I have jobs to level, gear to buy, crafts to skill. I can't drop gil to keep repairing just because people are lazy or in a rush. I'm a paladin, and paladins should be the first to die and the last to surrender (^_^) but my armor condition is not a tool for your convenience.
