    Yo Peeps -

Ive thought about this issue and its not an easy balancing act so the two idea I propose are for the Allagan Tin Pieces 25gil ones in an open world environment, this is if people want to farm gil they can but it will time consuming and still leaves crafting viable (i think). Anyways ideas are -

    1) Fate mobs to have a chance to drop Allagan Pieces/ Gil.
    2) (i dont know if this has any bearing at the moment - if it does please do share as im not sure if chain levels have any effect apart from exp) Have open world mobs have a chance of dropping Allagan Pieces/Gil or better loot depending on your chain level?

    Any suggestions, adjustments?

Just do like the RMT do. They sit in an area and use a target attack script on a certain npc type. Like the ones that stand there farming karakul in coerthas. They've been doing it for weeks and haven't been banned so I guess SE thinks its OK to do so.

If you can earn a lot gil by DoW or DoM.
What's the point of DoL and DoH?
Those who babbling about gil are all the same.
"I don't wanna craft,I should get rich by killing things,This is not about gil transfer it's about gil generation, bla bla bla"
The meathead should be poor,or you can just go hunting some mat and put it on market.
If you want to earn everything by killing you should stop playing this game and try MONHUN(not sarcasm)

An economy based on having to craft to generate income will fail, as was noted above via stagnation. There needs to be multiple ways to make money (without great disparity). This is a basic principle when it comes to MMOs.. and beyond, really.

Now if FFXIV is going to be a crafting based economy (which I don't think it is because the strongest gear is not crafted) then you would not have dailies or other such things to provide you with gil. You would get gil by either crafting or providing materials for those crafters. This is not a very consistent system though so the money sinks in game would have to be greatly reduced, otherwise you have issues now where DoW/Ms do not have the necessary funds to do anything on a regular basis. You shouldn't need to craft to make enough gil to buy the things you need, but it should take longer to buy the things you need than a crafter (as they are devoted to profit) but not impossibly or tediously so. It all comes down to balance. If you just want to focus on your chosen Class/Job and play the game without alternating your play, there needs to be ways for you to hunt things or do missions to get the materials crafters would need. DoHs gathering for crafters is pretty self explanatory.

TL/DR: FFXIV is not designed to be a crafter centric economy. If it were, it would still not be viable for everyone (the majority, even) to be crafters. Changes need to be made to either make FFXIV crafter centric, or go the normal MMO route. (Think WoW).

I haven't done a lot of mining a crafting using goldsmith yet but what I have used and I have made 60k in a day. So if u can do craft and gather skills u should be able to make plenty for what you need.

I don't know if anyone else has thought of this. Seeing how long this thread is they probably did but I tried a few things to search for it and didn't find anything so here goes.

Why not just make it so that when you complete quests at max level the exp you gained, rather than being wasted, is converted over to gil? It doesn't have to be a even conversion because that would just cause inflation but maybe a 20-25% conversion of the exp into gil would work. Alternatively maybe make the boss' also drop a Alagon piece but instead of it going to a single person like form chests the one from the boss is a bit better quality and gives one or two to everyone? And I don't just mean the end boss but every boss in that instance. Like if a instance has tin the boss' have bronze and so on.

How about a gil bonus if you queue up for a dungeon that requires you to level sync? A 25% bonus in gil per every 5 synced levels when there is someone not-level synced in the party would help. A 50 running Tam-Tara would see a 175% gil reward bonus. The sweet spot would probably be running the level 30-40 dungeons where you could get 50-75% bonus.

No one who has posted in this thread can prove whether or not there is in fact an over-all gil supply problem. All they can do is speak to their own experiences - those who have plenty of gil presume that there is no problem, and those who do not presume that there is.

That being said, most of those who are in the latter group seem to be end game DoW/DoM players who prefer to dungeon grind. So, I got a silly question:

What is keeping you from buying the crafting materials required for the iLevel 70 crafted items with philosophy tokens, and selling them on the market for obscene amounts of gil?

If the answer is "I want to save for darklight," then you are simply facing the same choice that every player in the game is facing, and making the decision to get loot instead of gil, but even so you can start getting the crafting components after you have kitted out your darklight set.

If the answer is "you can't trade that stuff, you noob!" then I can only say that I checked various websites, and no one has updated from 1.0, because they all lack both the unique and untradable flags on every resource I have checked...
