Yes SE please give us personal housing. For that matter though I wouldn't mind having LS housing as well.

Well, that's one of the possibilities I mentioned, a sort of linkshell "town" with a central hall and individual houses around it. Though that leads to the issue of how you deal with multiple linkshells and if you don't have one, or what if you leave a linkshell.

Since we are on the topic of housing in an MMORPG, I feel the need to include a link to one of Greg Dean's recent rants (Feb 10th) on housing in an MMORPG. I have to say, he has put a LOT of thought behind this one.

I would love to see housing in some form that is not an instanced room. I would be willing to settle for an apartment, as long as I was not "insta-teleported" to it so I could at least customize my door/window/front wall.

i think that most of that would be a great idea, im a little on the fence about hiring NPCS to do that work as long as its a 1 time fee and the walls could get costly having to install wall by wall but over all i like it and even think you should be able to add stories to your house, as for it being an instance im all for it as it would keep areas lower in lag and almost infinite room than if you had to compete with other players to find plots of land to set up a huge house on

I got a little annoyed when he singled out PSO for doing the apartment thing, you were on a space ship, I'm surprised they didnt just say you all slept in the cargo bay.

my major problem with purchasing real-estate in a non instance is that it comes at the cost of upkeep or risk losing the house, with the economy being almost entirely player driven it is not guaranteed how much money you are going to make beyond leves, and if you can make rent off leves, the more market savvy will have their houses paid off for years.

But besides that, sometimes players have to stop playing for a number of reasons and just cant make payments like that and nothing stings like losing something you worked on for reasons that were beyond your control.

(again i'm not against payments, just losing the house entirely for not paying, rather than access to it.)

Ps. Psion man your proposal is twice as good and ambitious as anything i was thinking up in regards to player housing.

I like these ideas alot, would like one addition to it though, the possibility to grant another player same rights to your house. For the couples in ff14 that are playing this game together this would be very nice.

It would be nice would be to have an "allowed entry" list. Something where you could choose an access level:

    Public (allow anyone)
Friends (or a list of character names)
Link Shells (pick off a list of your LS which ones have access)
    Private (no entry except yourself)

oh another thing i just wanted to a address i also enjoy the though of have a linkshell house but that should be separate from the player home for sometimes i and maybe many others just want a place to our self that wont have people from the ls busting in but a house you could have with your linkshell would be pretty cool

A wonderful idea, though I'm not sure how to work out what happens in the case the couple "breaks up" so to speak. Would any upgrades the person who was given permission to the house get their money back? Or would it stay with the original owner?

Still, accommodating married couples or partners is a great idea, especially if SE puts in-game marriages in this game as well. I just hope they have the sense to allow same-sex couples the same ability to do so, unlike with FFXI. That's a whole new can of worms though.
