I don't let the prestige of a franchise cloud my judgement. I just find it a lack of creativity and meaning to name classes by color.

Please tell me this isn't another "just rename classes" thread. There is existing lore you know and 3 quests for each (with cutscenes). You can't just change the name and make it "more FF" or any of the other nonsense babble I've read. Sadly you are not the first, nor the last person that will suggest this until such time SE explains the job system.

Hence why you need to actually know the history and meaning behind the names.

    http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Red_mage

Just for example. Where as a Thaumaturge for example? Even knowing the definition it doesn't fit in with the Japanese names.

Well actually Conjure means many things and one of the meanings is to influence by the use of magic or the practice of black magic as well as to summon like you say so it fits BLM and perhaps WHM as well.

Have you EVER played any other Final Fantasy? This is a Final Fantasy game, Final Fantasy has MILLIONS of fans... This is why Yoshi mentioned that this is under discussion.

Also, as the poster on page one pointed out... the Japanese class names are the MOST GENERIC class names ever lol... Gladiator in Japanese? No, it's 'Sword User'... give me a break. This is why I believe they will be changing the names.

First of all I don't need to do anything. Second of all sometimes it's good to have an outside opinion.
And I'm sure it wasn't Square Enix idea to isolate themselves by only being attractive towards people who know the whole Final Fantasy series from before. So no I don't need to know every little detail about Final Fantasy to have an opinion.
For some people not all to familiar with Final Fantasy names such as blue mage or red mage, it just seems like of creativity in naming. That's why maybe it isn't such a bad idea to introduce some new titles in this game. That isn't such a difficult thing to understand, right?
And besides not letting go of the old ideas isn't always the brightest thing to do.

So replacing generic names with other generic names is a good thing to do in your opinion? And I haven't said anything about names such as gladiator. I have only talked about the name thaumaturge versus names like red mage, blue mage, etc. So don't try to change my words or message.

ps: If you want me to take you seriously cut the capslock thing, it's really unnecessary..

I can't comment on Brazilian food as I've never eaten it yet I wouldn't say it's bad as my opinion as I don't know how it even tastes...same concept here basically, knowing the actual history and their actual naming helps you know it is just a bit more than "by color". You don't need to know every single detail down to what the designer was eating that day, but it does help to know history of what you're dismissing.

You stated you find it a lack of creativity by having the job being a 'color', yet the actual names (Japanese) are a lot more description in what they are, the English and German names from what I've read are more based on appearance than a literal translation.
