Some people can be pretty mean

I was just in a low level dungeon, a lvl 24 dungeon at that, we were doing awesome i thought but a dps was yelling at our tank, telling him to taunt more. He was making fun of this guy every pull. The tank admitted he was new, and asked if there was anything he should know when it came to the bosses.

I would of helped him out, but i was new myself, i did my best to defend him. We ended the dungeon flawlessly no death's at all. It went pretty smooth. But this guy/woman would not lay off. When the dungeon was done he/she told the tank to reroll because he sucked.

I tried to tell the guy he did pretty good for his first time, but he told me he was done tanking, and he was going to roll DPS.

I read some of these thread's saying that there is not enough tank's in the game. Maybe if some of these "experienced" players attempted to help or offer advice instead of ridicule they might not be afraid to tank.

Reading this, really breaks my heart. No new tank that manages to clear a dungeon with 0 deaths deserves this. I'm sure there are points he could improve upon but that's where constructive criticism comes into play. Honestly, people complaining about tanks should play them instead all the way to 50.

I'll admit though that I tend to complain about them as well as a veteran Tank. But I always help them to learn. Even though some of them are very slow learners or suddenly get angry for no reason lol.

This is what DF does, it's a double edged sword...
People can be dicks without having to worry about consequences but also, if someone is mean to you, you never have to worry about this person again.
Just do what you like, even if you suck at it. It's only a beginning of the game, if you keep at it, you will eventually learn all the tricks.

It's the sucky ones that learn that become the awesome tanks (and healers and DDs), not the arrogant ones that think they already know it all.

    This.

What you observed was a prime candidate for a Harrassment GM ticket.

And those mean people shouldn't be excempt from consequenses for their bad behaviour. Seriously, worst excuse ever.

Anyhoo, I'm a long time tank myself (though in other MMOs) and BECAUSE of that I am much more patient with new tanks. I know how it is to be in the lead, running first in a dungeon you've never been in before, where you don't know what the mobs will do and always scared you'll be taking the wrong turn or pulling the wrong mob. When I DPS I always blame myself if I get aggro or take damage, because there are tricks for the DD to help both the tank and healer. If you don't know those tricks, and rather yell at someone else, you're a bad DD and should... well not reroll. Because if you can't DPS then I don't want you as healer or tank either.

The tank sould have quit tanking and watch the party die, thats what they get for disrespecting the tank. Remember kids, don't mess with the tank, he is your main way of destroying dungeons. also on bosses its best for the tank to focus on aggroing and keeping the aggro on the boss, especially in low level dungeons where adds are pretty much easy to defeat.

I've been killed so many times from a poor tank or just inexperienced players, but have never gotten mad at them or anything. It's a game first and foremost. So it should be fun for all. Experienced, new, or just suck at gaming but still share a love of it and Final Fantasy and/or mmo's.

Sometimes we'll speed through a dungeon, and others we'll fight for every win. Regardless, I'm always having fun and I try to spread that wherever I can (more-so now that I can type with a keyboard instead of a ps3 control)

Anyway, I bet some of my moves in dungeon's have been totally stupid or noobish, and people have endured that. I'd have to be a total douche to believe I've been some perfect crystal-sent character :P

But Mostly people, chill out and have fun. What's a bad dungeon fun or boss fight gonna cost ya?
    Some time?
Like we're spending it all that well as it is :P

Well I am not so sure about this approach.
I have been in situations where the tank has not been very good and our lancer took over keeping hate...

If anything the main person destroying the dungeons is the healer :P No one can survive if their HP goes to 0
