Airship/Ferry Changes in the Future?

I heard from someone a while back that Yoshi hinted at changing the airship and ferry to be more like it was in FFXI... i.e. doing away with the cutscene, causing to have an actual travel time where people wait for the ship and then travel on it, as well as opening up the possibility to fish on the fairy (and possibly on airship with cloudfishing). Then of course we'd possibly have cool things like pirates trying to take over the ferry and things of that sort that we saw in FFXI.

I know not everyone is in favor of this but it's something I'd really like to see. I think it adds so much more immersion to the game and causes the world to feel bigger. Plus I haven't even taken an airship since the quest to unlock it... it's kind of sad

If so, that makes me really excited. The trips on the boats/airships added a lot of immersion and it was awesome seeing the scenery and various landmarks go by you.

Ook. Did you know you can see the Crag of Mea from the Windurst airship, or Heavens Tower from the ferry? (And once or twice I told an lsmate who'd just made rank 5 to watch out for the Sky Horror...)

something that would be even cooler is if the sea dident count as one zone when fishing. depending on the area your in when you 1st cast your line would determine what type of fish you could catch.

and i relly hope we can fish up items at some point in time. rusty buckets and thrown away gear i miss the amusement of catching things other then kelp.

They should give us the option to obtain our own airship. Not in a usual fashion, maybe to gain access to some Sky dungeon, or something. IDK, I think it would be cool.

I have been wanting it for ages. I remember Yoshi did mention something about it but probably won't happen for next few expansions.

you couldn't afford what Cid charges for maintenance on those things... I know I can't

I might be unique in this, unless they add a way for me to skip all of that, because I wouldn't want it. I am farming more gil just so I can teleport everywhere I need to be. I hate all the zoning and waiting, just to get on an airship to do more zoning and waiting. I also only have limited windows to play, so waiting to getting to places kills my soul.

Since we have the ability to teleport around the world anyways, I say yes to this idea. Also maybe widen the price gap between teleport and taking the airship/boat. It would make me feel more like "I'm traveling in a world."
