So how do I make Gil end game without a crafting or gathering class?

It feels like I'm being forced to have to pick up a crafting or gathering class to make a bit of Gil. I'm not talking about making millions, I just want enough to be able to afford even just repairs. I'm currently relying on Gil I made when I was still leveling, but now I cant find any way of making any Gil.

In other MMO's I could sell the loot I got off mobs to NPC's and just kind of survive on that or the dungeons had a gold reward upon completion but it doesn't work like that on this game so I'm really out of ideas.

Will I just have to simply start leveling a crafting or gathering class?

    Thanks

    Short answer: You don't.

Long answer: You don't, because gil fountains in this game are inexistant, even for crafters. Crafting will only give YOU personal wealth, while you take it away from another player. While this is the only way to keep yourself "fed" for a while, this will come crashing down soon enough if not addressed.

Actually even picking up crafting/gathering class at the moment won't get you that rich, since the economy is dead, noone buys anything (and not many people got the gil to buy).

You don't need food/potions to run dungeons, dungeons give you tombstones for the best gear in the game (so you don't need to buy it), so you don't need to craft gear, so you don't need materials to craft anything.

You could farm skins (boar skins, raptor skins) and sell them as they're used in higher level leatherworking and armorer crafts.

Theres quite a bit of militia gear that if melded properly is better than darklight. Also some good pieces of craftable jewelry as well.

If crafted gear were not exactly the same as quest/NPC gear, there would be a reason to use crafting. It only pays off at Level 40+, and even then, most endgame dungeon gear outclasses it.

Amazingly, the only things that I can manage to sell are crafting mats because people need them to level up their DOH classes. When the raw piece of lumber is worth more than the staff you made out of it, you know something is dreadfully wrong.

You can do two things at once by spiritbonding also while you farm. Buy some cheap accessories. (Like electrum) Put them on while you farm solo, convert to materia and sell. Materia sells for quite a bit. It's random whether you get a good one, but even Electrum can convert into tier 3 that people need for their pre-relic weapon.

Or it did until everyone reads this post.

In the same boat as you mate. I enjoy a bit of gathering in my downtime but I don't like having to rely on it as a sole income. And as others have said, it's a short-term solution at best anyway.
