Game is unplayable today

I'm a PS3 user who has been playing frequently since the 28th. The game was was fully playable and very fun, despite some minor issues.

Today is different...
I fell through the terrain randomly... twice. really far down taking massive fall damage and getting stuck.

I teleport out only to get stuck at the point where it places me next to the aetheryte.

My chocobo is getting stuck every 30 feet, not on objects that haven't rendered but complete nothingness.

I have to wait for 5 minutes for a mob or quest NPC to render when I'm only 3 feet away.

I have at least 4 minute load times when changing areas.

Lastly, I figure I can use this time to craft... but when i try to make an iron ingot the game freezes completely.


And so I've come to the forums for advice? I guess? I know others are having the generic PS3 issues with FATE parties, etc. I too had these issues until today but only very minor. I'm beginning to wonder if my PS3 is dying. I figured it couldn't hurt to ask the forum what they thought and if anyone has similar issues.

You may also be getting the insanely high lag spikes hundreds of us have been getting all week... If this is the case, there is yet no word of a fix from SE and also no temp fixes despite many of us having tried.

My PS3 connection test showed everything to be normal and I've reset my home network completely. Even tried it with my PS3 as the only thing connected to my network. I suppose it could be on my ISP's side of things but I have a friend who lives fairly close who reports no problems on his front. All other devices on my network are running just fine as well.

I also can't see a connection issue causing the game to freeze when I try crafting but honestly I don't have a clue what my issue is here, if this were all to go away tomorrow and I could get back to enjoying this wonderful game I would be ecstatic.

Experiencing the same issues today, not only have I fell through more terrain I got kicked to the main PS3 menu abruptly after the game screen went black with no obvious cause. I've performed a file system check and rebuild database for my PS3 with no improvements.

My connection is as good as it ever is and I've even downloaded large files while simultaneously playing FFXIV without any lag earlier this week (before I had issues) so I don't understand why this would be a connection problem (at least not from my end). Given the span of 2 days at diverse times of the day I feel it could count out server lag as well, but maybe I'm wrong.

It feels as though load times for everything have just plummeted for no apparent reason, I would blame the patch we got Wednesday but I didn't have issues until Thursday. I really wish PS3 users could play via PC without additional costs, my PC might be a little weak but I'm starting to this my PS3 may never play this game properly again.

Are you guys in the US? Seems like EU players are getting screwed over royally with lag and issues. Just wondering.

Ah ok I was just wondering. Keep an eye on the lodestone news maybe they will have an update that acknowledges your issues soon.

These problems have now exceeded the level of ridiculousness, I know this may not be the place to ask this but do you think replacing my PS3 HDD or formatting and reinstalling from scratch would help? I may be jumping to conclusions and I've already said this in all my posts but I feel like it's a PS3 issue (as in my PS3, not PS3's in general).

Maybe it overheated or something I'm not sure but the title of this thread really does say it all, it's not a matter of playing with lag or things taking a little longer. I literally cannot play anymore because my issues stated in the original post have deteriorated severely.

You may be right. I play on Ps3, as do three of my friends, and none of us are experiencing any issues. *knock on wood*
