    New Battle Effects 'Enhancement'

    I'm not sure if this is the correct area to post this, but I'm posting this video I did.

    In this fight I'm highlighting several things.

    First and for most, how the battle Effects Enhancement needs adjusting. Before the size increase I never got blockiness from the particle span. The very first wardrum used in the fight, as well as my sacrifice III is a clear view of this. It's very unattractive and a step down unless this can be adjusted. I noticed that this tends to happen in high-density particle environments like in Mor Dhona and in Ul'dah during the sandstorms.

    Also, during battle, previous to patch 17 I never got any blotches on my screen during combat. A few times here you see random black spots appear as if something is not working properly. I'm not sure what exactly this is, but is it a side-effect of the increased size of effects?

    The last thing I want to add, which is not related to the topic title is...why are we able to three man this NM? I understand altering some of the things with how you fight the older NMs due to party size, but...isn't this a bit extreme in a negative sense? Before the patch we fought Uraeus with 5 people, Bloatbelly with 3 people, and the roaming Great Buffalo with 7....and now is everything nearly soloable?

    These are just a few of the issues I've noticed with the recent patch, so I'd just like to know if this was all intended to be released in this way? Will these things be adjusted on Monday?

    I would say you were able to 3-man it because dodore and his minions have this seemingly useless ability that creates that white shockwave in the air, instead of attacking. I saw that go off so many times at times a spell or attack would have killed the tank. All the NM's do this, and it is a reason why they tend to be so easy. They also use stamina, which if they increased the stamina regen of NM's it would increase their difficulty enough to require a bigger/full party.

    Oh and stygian/shock spikes dont do anything for magic attacks or special skills..

    Yes, but he was still getting back mp from stygian on some regular attacks so it was still useful. He needed to be able to cure himself and this allowed him to do so. Previously, stygian spikes never seemed to work in this particular fight, but here it is. A lot of tanks for that fight would run out of mp, but here he did not.

    Another thing, we fought the Buffalo the other day with only 5 people and debuffs from spells were landing almost always when it seemed dreadfully hard to do this pre-patch.

    I guess that's true...but I didn't realize 5% made or broke the ability to land those debuffs when stats and gear are the same as before. I guess every little bit helps? ^^;

    They did that so it would give people an incentive to group up to make things easier, but what they should do is beef up NM's evasions and resistances so that without having the 4 or 8 player group buff, debuffs, spells, and attacks will miss more often than not.
