DEAD Web address on box sets registration cards.

So... Got a PS3 CE box sat on my shelf.

On the registration card for the game it tells me to go to 'http://members.eu.square-enix.com'.

Not only is that currently a dead page, but also apparently a nice bit of advertising for your web software company and tells everyone without even a hint of security background what type of software you're running. I'm sure all the script kiddies out there are happy.

How about a redirect from there to the proper page for registering the game... or a link or something... anything?

Fortunately I figured out where I actually needed to go as I'm v1.0 customer, but for new customers it's not exactly reassuring.

Hmm. Just checking up on this. Now the page can't even be found.

All those customers who buy the physical version of this game are going to be so reassured that their game is a legitimate copy.

Who precisely was in charge of making sure the documentation in the box matched up with the plan for the website and why doesn't it?

Tbf, most servers use nginx, so it's not surprising, it won't allow script kiddies to do anything so don't talk stupid... http://wiki.nginx.org/Main

Now, onto the actual topic, this broken link is given with every square-enix game not just XIV, even japanese ones have it, even Before Meteor had it -_-. I think someone needs firing at SE...

First part: *Raises eyebrow* Huh, goes to show what happens when you don't keep up with what's what. There was a time when knowing which software someone used for their web servers was one of the first things they looked for. That said, reading that web-page I can understand your point... assuming they've configured it right. And lets face it, we've had how many downtimes for the game servers due to misconfiguration? Is it that much of a leap that they *might* have done the same with the web server?

Second part: Well at least it's a sub-domain. Would have been nasty if it wasn't. It shouldn't be too hard to set back up without worrying that someone let the lease lapse. I've seen that happen and it cost that company big to get their domain name back.
