    Holding Threat

so I finally got to the end game content and I'm now doing Amdapor Keep. the problem I am having is keeping threat. I keep getting yelled at from my other party members calling me a bad tank but the problem is I cant hold threat while they do more dps and get my threat. I use flash and provoke and yet the enemy still holds threat on my party member. It really hurts my morale when my party member leaves because I cant properly tank. I was told to look up threat rotations? I dont know i need some advice.

It'd be easier to offer advice if you go over your general strategy for engaging a group of mobs. Do you lose aggro on boss fights/single target fights? Are you marking the kill order?

Did you put Marking on the mobs? And DPS should follow attack the same mob as you.
And ask nicely if any BLM or WHM in your party to Sleep or Repose.
Threat rotations? Nah, Its not a proper way to tank. You just need cooperation from your team members.

Drag the (1) Marker onto your bars. Make sure it's known that your (1) target is your PRIMARY threat target. If they want to attack other mobs, then that's their problem.

That said, DPS needs to learn this isn't like other games; AoE threat takes time to execute, and single target threat is part of combos. Remind them that they need to give you 5-10 seconds in order to cement enmity. And they can build up their DPS; the amount of bards I get at the 40-range burning their CDs right from the off and then somehow wondering how they ended up pulling aggro is as hilarious as it is troubling.

If any mobs do split, they should be slept or controlled until such a time you can get back to them. DPS who break CC need a slap. Sorry. They do.

If DPS can't do any of this, then it's not your problem as a tank. Just chalk them up as fools and move on. Tanking is a thankless task at the best of times; dps who think they can do better should have levelled a tank in the first place, no?

Keep in mind that Provoke only puts you at the top of the aggro list for that mob, so use it when you're behind in aggro right before you use an enmity generator like SLob or Flash. When you initiate (YOU are the one initiating, right?) start with SL and immediately Flash when mobs are in range. Pop your full enmity rotation on the primary target, Flash again, then you have to make decisions. Is the Healer taking aggro from other mobs? Rotate your enmity combo onto secondary targets, Flashing between each ability to keep primary on you. Are the DDs taking primary aggro? Stay focused on primary and get those Rages out fast - ignore Shield Swipe and any other non-enmity attacks. If the DDs are still taking aggro from primary target, tell them to slack off until you have a strong aggro lead. When you see primary target going down, switch before it dies to get a lead on the next target.

@Cairn: I love your signature pic xD

Dont forget to use circle of scorn and spirits within since they are not on the same cd as your other skills. Even if they "just" do damage it still helps alot in first few seconds.
Also note that circle of scorn dot does not break sleep so just use it since you should always be attacking first (even sleep pulls are bad).

oh and if 2 dps are attacking diffrent targets focus on one you cant keep aggro on both if they arent half bad

If you made to the endgame as a tank and made it through all the other dungeons with little problem then it probably isn't all you. DPS and healer need to learn to control hate just as much as you. There are very clear indicators to the left of the screen indicating your level of hate. The icons go: Red, orange, yellow, green. Red means YOU have hate. Orange means your about to get hate. Yellow means you picked up a little hate. And green means you have no hate. Those are important things to be aware of and everyone should be adjusting their tactics accordingly to their role.
