Dealing with Gold Sellers spammers

Ive seen several people trying to sell gold and some bots spamming it in towns, and Ive seen more people telling them to go shove it and shut up, but have no idea what to do after that.

Even if those people who don't know what to do, don't read this, its still worth a shot.

First things first, you need to add them to your black list

This can be found under the social window or by typing /blist in chat.

Add the name of the gold seller

This will stop communication from the gold seller to you.

Secondly, this is optional.

Open your main menu and go to Support Desk, then Contact us, then click on Report Cheating.

Gold selling and botting falls under Cheating

Fill in the details under the appropriate sections

EXAMPLE---

-World
Behemoth
-Zone
(either unknown or name of area if known) Central Thanalan
-Date when the violation was observed
06/09/2013
-Character Name
Striker Mccloud
-Deatils
Selling gold in chat, exact message "www.noobgoldrusfornoobsonff14.com.noob 20000k gil for $1USD"

everything there besides the message has happened before.
NOTE - that's a made up gold site, im not promoting it anyway

After that hit ok and review your report then send it. Done.

Hopefully in the future the Devs will make it easier to report and black list these people and add anti spam measures.

Unfortunately most of these people and bots who sell gold are using accounts they have hacked into, to avoid this please get a Authenticator either from the app store on your smart phone or buy a keychain token from the SE website.

I hope we get something like right click spam report soon. It should automatically gather all info and send the report and put the spammer on the blacklist, without player interaction. Doing this as a manual report is as crazy as it would be to send a handwritten report to Japan via snail mail.

Having no proper tool to report spammers makes me even angrier than the spam does. Lacking features like this must be frustrating to many players.

This is a huge problem in Ul'dah on Ragnarok.

Its constant, I had over 100 lines of spam in under 3 mins.

I have reported them but why cant the GM's just stick them all in jail!? How annoying is it for new players seeing it being spammed constantly?

They are pretty much lol, all we can do is keep reporting and adding them to the blacklist
