Airship question

I just got the airship pass and I want to know if I board the ship will I be able to ride it, use "return" or "teleport" to get back to Gridania or am I stuck where it lands for awhile?

You are not bound to a city once you land there, you can travel back to the other cities via airship or teleport (or return) back. Like was said, you can do all three if you want to, your choice on which three to do

Actually, when you take your first airship trip and land you can not immediately use it again. The NPC will refuse you. You have to talk to the NPC there for your quest, then go to the next city and do the same there. Once you've done that, then you can use the airship normally.
