As a tank you would get a party again in a few seconds, just leave the pt and join a new one.
However, since there was only 1 guy in the party bashing, I would just ignore him and get the most out of it for the 2 other members.

Happens all the time sadly. I had an ACN pull out his Topaz Carbuncle because he didn't feel like waiting for my TP to regen and told me to learn how to tank. I thought it was funny considering he didn't know how to play as DPS.
The best advice anyone can give in this situation:
/blist add "Firstname Secondname"
Common Sense is a language most misunderstood on the continent of the MMOForum
I think the best thing would be to report 'em, yep. Though that said it's little wonder why people are not being tanks if they get shouted at for being new/needing to learn the dungeon. Always better to explain what to do to someone who doesn't get it then to just tell them they suck. Even the most resiliant tank is going to wonder what the hell is the point if it happens often enough. :/
As someone who is generally above-average at games and easily rages over people doing dumb shit or playing their class "incorrectly", I always offer suggestions on improvements first (and in a manner that allows the other person to graciously accept the advice, not being an ass about it). This is also true for most other guys/gals I know who play games at a decent level. Good players don't usually do this kinda thing. Just saying.
That said, tanking is a thankless task in this. It's substantially more work than almost all of the other classes/styles, you have to actually -at least in broad strokes- know what you're doing, the class-design (for GLA/PLD anyway) is between boring and terribad and the only redeeming factor is that the dungeons are fun so far. Then you get some dick trolling/harrassing you, and a re-roll is not far off for most normal people who don't spend their lives online. I totally get that.
Sure, but tanking in LOTRO was about 2398462378945734058 times more fun over all. Matter of fact, I reinstalled it earlier after not playing in over a year, because tanking in this is so dissatisfactory.

i hate these people. i never get mad at people unless they ar rude. evn if somebody causes wipe ovr and ovr i dont get mad. i try to help. and if helping dost not work i will just hope the person leaves and get a better player or i simply leave the dungeon itself an start over. but i will never disrespekt someone. unless they are rude.
of course konsidering how rude the forum posters are here and their slandering, no surprising it is the same in dungeon finder. probably the same people.
get over yourself rager. nobody likes you. evn if you "try to help" you are still a rager. no different from the other ragers out there.Originally Posted by FluffyM

I'm only really familiar with Lord of the Rings Online, but my main there is a tank. Tanking in FFXIV is much more of a challenge, with no forced taunts and no aggro leeches. It's a constant battle for the tank to maintain hate in this game. I frankly think SE went a little overboard in the weak tanking tools here (as they did with seemingly over-the-top healing aggro), but then I'm just barely into my Pally at lvl32 so maybe tanking tools get stronger. Still, I'm enjoying the challenge.
These kinds of episodes remind me why I so dislike SE's decision to implement a multi-worlds Duty Finder.
Dps grabbing aggro is 9/10 times the DPS' problem. Especially at early levels. Now when a Tank can't keep hate off of my faerie (trust me this happens) Then I feel there maybe a little issue with the tank... but healers and dps are to blame more often or not... help I have a mob on me #medicamedicamedica... yeah that's going to help sunshine.
Whether or not someone is a bad player is no excuse for poor attitude towards them. However as a side note on this thread, today I met an amazing group of people who went out of there way to help people in my party and myself. No one got frustrated or were rude while trying to explain complicated strategies to our JP speaker. Not everyone is an ass and today my faith in humanity has been restored. There will always be morons but if we as a community can smile through the BS and weed out the foul tempered FFXIV will be a happier place for everyone
Unfortunately MMOs tend to attract these kinds of people and that's why I avoid tanking classes
I actually really enjoy tanking but it's the first time I've tried to so I'm completely new at it, and I WANT to learn. I've read strategies and tips etc but that can only get you so far when you don't know a dungeon, its layouts, mobs and bosses.
I'm only level 21 on my gladiator, and I've only done one dungeon and didn't get complaints. I already knew it well from going through on my pugilist. But as much as I want to carry on I'm sort of dreading it because of the amount of posts coming up about the people on the DF being constant jerks. Now, I can put up with it to an extent, it doesn't offend me or whatever. But, I do feel like getting it constantly later on when I'm trying to learn new dungeons will start to take the fun out of it and put me off really trying. I want to tank to learn and have fun with it, not to get abuse for making a mistake.
