    A return to Eorzea

Had an account since release, but due to time restraints, console games, and waiting to see what the devs would do with this, I've held off playing seriously since month 1. Getting back into it and getting the feel for the changes and enjoying it again. I really have only one concern. The Economy. The economy was one of my major reason of quitting FF11 after years of playing, currently rank 11 glad, and(off of vendors) it would cost me over 100k gil just to outfit for that current level. I know and enjoy crafting, but some of the mats I need are either A:expensive or B:earned from mobs that I won't be able to kill until I have bypassed the level need for the gear I am trying to build. Was mainly wondering if it was just me or if the economy was bad, and if it was me, whats the best/fastest way to earn gil in game(I won't buy it). This isn't a slam on the game, I'm really liking the changes and the progress the devs have made, and the stubborn streak in me won't give up yet.

I found money in this game far easier to earn than in ffxi.
Just level a craft and do leves they earn some quick easy gil.

At the moment it is pretty pointless "gearing up" until you are rank 15+ anyway as the benefits are negligeable at best. Also you'll outgrow equipment so quickly due to 1-20 being so fast paced. On most my jobs I waitied until rank 20 before gearing up seriously.

By that point I was participating in rank 20 levequests were you can get up to 25k+ rewards. Also behest every 30 minutes grants 3-6k.

The problem is, you can get to rank 20 with 5 leve's, if you 5-star them in a group, i.e. one level will get you to rank 8, being rank 1 with mobs at rank 13, then rank 23 mobs. So, might as well buy or craft the r20 stuff out of the gate.

In regards to economy, due to the lack of any sort of auction house, players randomly put items up for random prices, so attempting to put an item up based on the prices of the other items of the same type (which you would have to meticously grind through in order to find all the prices, through the slow-loading menus) usually returns a flawed price decision.

The best way to fix the monetary economy is to consider how hard it was to farm the items, how much time it took, and then calculate in how much gil you receive for quests or leve completions around that items r-level, and then you have a solid price. If we could convince people to use this economic system, we could slowly fix the economy, as players will no longer be able to put prices up for the ridiculous 200mil gil prices that you see. Sure, you'd be selling for less, but think about the future, would you rather an inflated system, or an affordable system, that you too, will eventually need to use.

*aims a shotgun at the argument*

Learn to use the item-search feature. It's a pseudo auction-house without removing all opportunity for impulse-buying.
