Moving faster. That's about it.

When you acquire multiple mounts, you can choose between them.
The Gobbue Mount is exclusive to 1.0 players who acquired it in-game while it was offered then.
The LEGACY Chocobo Mount is exclusive to 1.0 LEGACY Players.
The Coeurl Mount is exclusive to 1.0CE, 2.0CE, and Digital Upgrade purchasers.
The Voidal Resonator Mount requires you to Subscribe for 90+ Days.
The Unicorn Mount requires you to be a White Mage.
The Company Chocobo Mount is the mount required to unlock the usage of Mounts in Eorzea. You obtain it by completing the side quest to hand over a Chocobo Issuance (2000 Seals purchase) from your Grand Company (unlocked after you beat Ifrit in Story Mode).
The MAGITECH Mount is awarded for completing the Main Story Line.

3. Is there an in game shop to purchase mounts?

At the moment, there are a limited number of mounts in game with various ways to acquire each.

4. Can we expect flying mounts in the future?

The Voidal Resonator mount is a 'flying' arihman mount, but it remains low to the ground. If you mean Flying high in the sky, I don't think so.

1. Mounts let you move slightly faster than sprint without any cooldown.

2. You do not select your mount. You may however acquire different mounts by completing quests or through events.

3. No, and I do not believe there are plans for an in-game store. Closest thing to this is probably the Coeurl mount and Chocobo Behemoth barding, both of which are items exclusive with the Collectors Edition of the game. If you want to purchase it, buy the digital CE upgrade or CE hard copy.

4. it is very unlikely you will see flying mounts. Although who can really say? Maybe you will in 2 or 3 expansions down the road. I just wouldn't say it'll be anytime soon.

The Unicorn Mount requires you to be a White Mage.

Not exactly. You have to be a 30 CNJ, but you don't have to have the WHM job quest completed. You do have to have the lvl 30 CNJ quest completed, though.

Also, I think there has been talk about flying mounts at some point, but I imagine that would be very far down the line.

So that seems a little unfair that only CNJ/WMG get exclusive mounts, and none of the other classes do. As a ARC/SUM I would love to have an exclusive mount resembling one of the many unused summons from final fantasy.. someone like Doom Train haha!

I too would love to see every Class/Job having its own Mount Class.

At the moment only EU members who hve redeemd enough timecards to equal 90+days are the only ones who have that mount.

Yoshi said in an interview that they gave Conjurers the unicorn mount so that more people would play that class.

Conj/WHM has its own mount currently because Yoshi said he wanted to encourage people to play as a Conjurer to give some sort of balance to classes being chosen since usually people tend to stay away from more responsible jobs. As for the future I believe in the same PAX interview they are looking to add more specific ones for each job and jokingly saying that tank will be next.. sorry dont have a link.
