FATE Rewards.

I understand that FATE rewards are based on what medal you receive, and thees only three medal correct? Are the rewards for each medal a fixed amount? I'm doing level 30 FATES and consistently receiving the gold medal which nets me a little over 7k EXP; however, several people have said they earned 12k+ EXP during the same FATE. Am I missing something?

I may be wrong, but I think your reward is more about the contribution to the FATE than the medal earned. The other players netting more EXP probably did more damage to the monsters than you did. The medals though do determine other rewards. I remember reading about several different fates that only reward bonus minions if you can get the gold medal.

Damage contributed would make sense IF, melee DPS wasn't at a disadvantage, and if there was an accurate way of comparing the effort of healing and tanking to that of DPS. I hope my first assumption was right and its based off the medals, if it isn't the system if fairly flawed. I know I have a horrible time trying to get a move off on a target before its dead.

The reward given is reflected of your level as well. It's capped a certain amount, so if your level one you can't get carried through high level fates and get massive amounts.

If you match the level of the fate you and get gold, you will get the maximum amount of xp possible for that fate.

For example, level 32 fate you'll get 15k xp, if you complete that at level 30 you'll get around 13k. At 28 you'll get 11k and so on. Figures not accurate.

This is why it's not necessarily worth jumping to a high level zone quickly. You're better off staying at fates as close as to your level as long as possible, due to ease and the xp being capped.

Im doing FATEs that are within 1 of my level which is 33. I get the gold medal, I walk away with a little over 7k EXP. But you said the max is in the 15k area. How do you know what the max is? And I must still be missing something.

As a Tank, I NEVER get this much. I usually get between 4 and 7k per fate. The way Contribution is calculated GREATLY favors ranged dps and aoe classes. It's simply unfair. Hell, I;ve had healers purposely not heal me while tanking bosses because they where worried about their contribution. The system is pretty broken.

Also, being in a party should not be mandatory since we are all working together on the same thing anyway. SE should take another look at how other games handle contribution in events like these.

Some fates, simply give less. If they do give less then others in the area, it's also quite possibly a part of a chain of fates. And obviously the large boss fates which whilst could be at the same level as other fates in the area is going to give more.

As far as I was aware, bronze, silver and gold xp is fixed, as in there isn't an xp threshold. So if you get gold, that's it, there's no way to get a better gold and thus more xp. But they are affected by your level and any xp boosts you have active.

I see. I just did the Boss Crab in Costa Del Sol, got a silver medal and ended up getting close to 12k XP. Now I wonder, I was the second or third person in the FATE, I focused on the Boss Crab the entire time. I've got my monk rotation down pretty well at this point, yet I get a silver instead of a gold. In the normal FATEs when there's mobs everywhere I feel like I have no up time on any of them, yet i consistently get golds.

Yeah that side of things I don't really understand myself, as a WHM, I run around and cast aero on everything and that's it. For the big boss ones I typically do a bit of healing which seems to contribute a bit.

Outside of that I do recommend being in one of the fate groups. A lot easier to get gold whilst in a group.
