Titan HM Ground Based AoE (Am I just terribad?)

Okay so I guess first off I should mention that I'm an EU player playing on Malboro which is an NA server.

During the last beta phase I was forced to create a character there due to EU servers being entirely full. A world transfer for free (afaik) has not become available yet (one-time?)

On the boss, on my screen, I'm out of the plume / aoe animation on the ground yet sometimes I still get hit.
I've noticed this happen in many dungeons from Amdapor, Wanderers and the Primal trials.

I react instantly to them, yet sometimes they still hit me. I couldn't react any faster if I wanted to, and I don't consider myself to be a bad player.

Am I being let down by latency issues here? I can't view my ping so I don't know how badly it's affecting me.

Has anyone else noticed that AOEs hit early regardless of being outside of the animation?

    Inb4 trolls.

    Edit:

    Just seen this-

It's an example of what's happening to me.
I guess it's accepted by the community as something that is genuinely happening to people.

I guess I've answered my question myself.

You're not a bad player, the game was just made with built in lag. There's no way to get around it until the developers go in and change the way that the game handles the interaction between server and client information.

Seeing the amount of threads which seem to mirror my observations have put my worries to rest thankfully.

I was beginning to think I wasn't reacting quick enough, I couldn't believe it!

Not just you. Sunday I tanked the final boss on Brayflox. We (a group that regularly steamrolls dungeons together) wiped 7-8 times to the guy and timed out because I just could not for the life of me avoid dragon breath. I'd be fully out of the hit box on my screen and I was still getting drilled. Seriously, I dodged like 1 in 5. Fast forward 24 hours, I try again with a pickup group. A sub par pickup group. We get to the boss and I am able to easily dodge every single dragon breath and we win. damn latency!

Sub quirk, tried Titan last night. Was going really well until the healer was "gaolled" and in the process of running to the healer, I cut behind titan as he did a landslide and was shot off the platform in the complete opposite direction he was targeting. I was less than pleased.....

It took me a little time to figure it out but this game is not GW2 or any other game you have played where the ground turn red and you move. This game requires that you anticipate the action by

a> You see a boss turning toward you = time to start moving
b> You know the rotation of skills so you anticipate the ability ahead of time and start moving early (very important on Titan HM)
c> Cast bar begins to cast so you start moving before it ends.
d> Game emotes than an action as happened so you move before the results of the action happen (like the guy who launches the missiles)

All the AE's are not meant to be completely unavoidable once you see a red circle. Even during Titan HM there is a chance you will get hit by something but as long as you don't get hit by 2 somethings you will live. So during quicksand circles, if you forget to start moving and it pops under you then get to an area where the circles don't overlap so you only get hit for 2200 damage instead of double that amount

I struggled with Titan HM as well, you basically have to be moving from the quicksand ability before it starts to guarantee not being hit by it.

He does everything on a fixed rotation so you'll have to know when he's about to do earth and move out the way early.
