Just wanted to drop by the to say hello to everyone on Lamia that frequent these forums. Also, wanted to say that aside from the server issues we experienced for the first bit (I was impatient and wanted to play lol), ARR has been a real pleasure to play! I hope everyone is enjoying it as much as I am. I played FFXI for about 7 years (My character's name was Daze on Carbuncle) and I find as of now I may be able to put that length of time into this as well. Well, just wanted to drop by, say hello and see who else here may have played XI and what are your thoughts of XIV are? Take care all!

Hello there, good to meet ya Daze. I played 11 as a 60 RDM/(WHM/BLM/NIN) for about a year when it first came out and then moved to wow. I loved 11 but I was to casual to be so dedicated. I came back to 11 last year to check things out and what a difference it was, but I wasn't impressed in fact I was sad that it became so easy and much of the game world left idle. So far I like ARR, but at this point I can't see paying a sub after the trial is done (For any current sub MMO actually). ARR is the best mmo so far though out of the pool of MMOs that have been coming out. I feel that Yoshi has come through on what he wanted or was limited to design, considering his past experience with counsel games and DragonQuest. ARR is very much like a multiplayer counsel game, such as DQX (which is coming 26th of sep for windows pc, I'm interested). ARR in my view has a lot of potential but still falls short because of its limitations and MMO sources chosen for inspiration. I think this is why we see a lot of different content that's much the same. Adding dailies to ARR just seems like a lazy addition to the existing things to do. Already existing features could be improved, like adjusting fates etc could be currently improved upon to reduce grinding them. Perhaps leves could somehow be fitted to be also be dalies. Idk but at least I am motivated to keep playing ARR, which is a feeling I haven't felt in a long time.

Hello there Xceriis! I agree that they made some pretty huge changes to XI, mostly to suit that casual player base. I enjoyed the changes they had implement but for myself it past it's glory years and it was not enough to keep me for the long haul. For ARR, I'm sure that we will see some significant changes to a lot of the current content being that it's sub based and I really look forward to that. I'm enjoying everything thus far about it, although I think we obviously need some quality of life changes. I think there's always going to be some sort of grind in this types of games but I like the way it's been handled here VS XI, as I have a family to tend to now which I didn't have when I started XI. Nice meeting everyone that has posted in here, look me up in game by the same name if you ever need anything in game!

I'd also like to note that my FC (some friends and I from XI) is always looking for more members. We're just some close friends that like to get together to do content, although I'm not adverse to becoming a larger one with more people and working towards endgame content.
