My Point was that he would not be playing it NOW, in light of the other games that are out there. If a completely new game came out with exactly the same features as FFI in this narket, it wouldn't fly.

To be fair, FFX-2 and the upcoming XIII-2 are pretty different from the previous titles :P

My bet: FFXI-style combat is automatic fail and there is a huge division between people who want the old system and people who want the knew.
Also, my bet is that Grand Companies are nothing more than a quest hub similar to guildleves.
Hamlet Defences turn out to be nothing more than Month-long Behest against Beastman tribes and Garlean Soldiers.
Jump never gets implemented.
Crafters become increasingly marginalised as NMs drop all the best gear premade.Kinda hope your both right!!
My prediction: There will be no summoner class, and summons will be the new "2 hours".
Optimistic prediction: FFXIV will have an outstanding Armory/Job System with some engaging tactical combat to go with it.
However, as subs rise people will still be on this forum complaining.
Pessimistic prediction: Yoshi will ruin the potential of the Armory system and add content that will without a doubt make this a WoWCLONE to bring in subs. However, people will still be on this forum complaining.
I just know i'm right about something.![]()

Heh it's funny because some associates of mine were really excited about this news and I felt like I was on crazy pills.
I said that saying something you want will come after some arbitrary point in time that doesn't have an outline much less a deadline is like saying absolutely nothing at all. That they may as well have said "after we add airships and chocobos" "after miner can throw rocks and debuff enemies" "after we add dungeons" "after US captures Bin Laden" "after we end homelessness and starvation in the world" etc.
Well by my calculations, we're 1 step closer! YEAH.
Note: They said start implementing battle updates in June, not finish them. That could still be anytime between June and the end of the world as far as I know.
My Square-enix hate prediction: They will run this game to the ground, because they have no vision as to where they want the game to be.
My Squaresoft fanboy prediction: They will turn the game around, get things done quick once the battle patch is out of the way, start pumping content that can be called content, and hire the xeno team back, start releasing the xenogears series for the PS3, make a full remake of FFVI with some extra scenario like the "The after years", give tanaka the green light on the next sequel to CT and for the love of good stop making crappy FF games <.<
First, Ishgard wasn't promised to be opened right after the battle patch. Nothing like that was ever promised. (Aka they mentioned they'd like to get it going after they have the battle system sorted.) Also, even if it would take that long for the UI, hopefully it would be done right this time. You know they are working on several aspects of this game all at the same time. It takes time to do things right, so please be patient and give them that. I can understand frustration around them releasing the game too soon, but everyone has had over half a year to move on from that. You don't have to keep playing the game right now if you can't stand it. Come back after some time and maybe it'll be more like you want it to be.I also bet that FFXIV introduces an automatic dungeon finder. Players congregate in town while they are put in a queue for the dungeon, and eventually the game becomes an entrance lobby rather than an MMO.
I predict that Ishgard does not open directly after the battle patch as promised. I predict it opens in the final quarter of 2012.
I predict we don't get a new UI that was promised for february 2012 until february 2013.
Edit: I also find it odd that this is your thread and your thoughts about the future of ffxiv were not posted in the first post. It's like you wanted it to appear that you were interested in other people's input on the idea, but you could barely contain what you wanted to say about it since you started posting on the second page, lol. Just something I found a little amusing. ^^;

Difficult to predict the future of FF XIV. It won't be long now until the game is 1 year old and i fear if it hasn't improved a hell of a lot by then people will start to feel it never will. I also worry about the competition and the speed that square work. People are not going to wait around forever when bigger and better games are coming.
I believe Square have it in them to save this game and turn it into something great i just don't think they have all the time in the world to do it.
My predictions, the game will either fail because Square is to slow and people will move on, or it will become a succesful game miles better than it is now. It will never be as good as FF XI though.
You know me too well. Considering that 90% of my threads get deleted for trolling, eventually you learn a few tricks to keep them from not getting deleted.Edit: I also find it odd that this is your thread and your thoughts about the future of ffxiv were not posted in the first post.
