New Character Creation

So on twitter they said that so many servers had character creation restrictions and that they were not allowing anymore creations on them. I am curious if they are actually completely restricted until they are allowed or if the restriction is only as full. I guess my point is I don't wanna sit around waiting for an open spot if they are totally restricted but if there is just a chance I may get in at say 3:00 am I am willing to try all night. It seems some people say they get in. Anyone know if the restriction is only while the server is full? I really want to make a character on my friends server like everyone else does =*(

There are definitely a small number of servers where the restriction is being applied 24/7 at the moment, e.g. Moogle server in the EU. Which sucks because the only reason I bought this game is because I found out a bunch of my friends were playing, and that's the server they've been on since Early Access started. I'm sure there are some servers in NA where the situation is the same.

So it would be good to get some sort of indication as to how long these restrictions are likely to last. I'm not interested in playing this game if I can't join the people I know who are already playing it.

Thanks for replying, that helps a lot. I am going to try in the early mornings hours then. But I have also started a new character somewhere else and if I can't get on I will just transfer once they open server transfers up. They said mid Sept so hopefully its next week. Dear Square Enix,

The list that you have created on the lodestone to tell players which servers are closed to new toons is utterly useless.

Phoenix is apparently open according to the list but not when I try to create a new character to try out.

I already have toon on that server where I play with friends so I cannot understand how limiting peoples ability to create extra toons on a server they already play on impacts on that server. As far as I am aware I can't play two characters at once.

Telling me to create a new toon on a different server is plainly stupid as I play mmo's with my friends. If I wanted to play alone I can pick any number of alternative games.

Please get this sorted the constant issues are becoming a bore and bored players go elsewhere with their money.

Not only can I not currently make a character on my friends server but all EU servers are currently locked.

Not the greatest first impression for me and my friends.

would it really be so hard to implament a queue when trying to make a character on a new server? because paying for this game and not being able to play with my friends is a joke.

getting really close to uninstalling and playing something else, cause all this is doing is wasting space on my computer.

I'm glad I found this thread under the "Being Addressed" sub-group, but the fact that this is still happening is bothersome.

I have been trying to play on Ultros with my friends for almost two weeks. The server was locked out by the time Early Access was finished, and everyone I regularly play with had gotten to start during the Early Access. I made the mistake of waiting to get the game until a later date, so of course I couldn't even buy it until last Tuesday. This was the date we were all promised improvements would be made to the service.

72 hours later, Ultros is still locked from character creation. I put in a ticket asking for an ETA on when it would be available so I wouldn't have to just sit there in game refreshing the world list over and over again. The response I got linked me to the forum describing the details of the server improvement that already happened three days ago. It's especially annoying that most of the other world's come up by 11 pm, except for these same six servers. Is the population really that heavy?

I'm a patient person, I don't mind waiting to play. I would like to play soon, but all I would really like is an estimated time on which these realms will be available. I know shit happens, and good things become highly desired, but it really can't be that hard or expensive to rent some additional servers and increase world capacity.

Sure would be nice if i could talk to my party members(those with mics)....I know that PC users can use skype but those of us that play on PS3 would love to be able to talk to each other over PSN

Based on spending much of the last week looking at the list of available servers myself and based on what others have posted, it looks like the restrictions are population based and so come and go throughout the day - e.g at peak times in both NA and EU all servers are locked to new characters, but as populations fall these are lifted on most servers.

But there seems to be a small group of servers where these restrictions never lift - at the moment this is the case for Moogle (EU), Ultros (NA) , Behemoth (NA), Cactuar (NA), Excalibur (NA) and Hyperion (NA). The only time in the last 4-5 days that I've seen these servers available was just after the downtime on Wednesday, when I guess that the populations were briefly low enough that the restrictions didn't kick in for a short time.

I came to the forums to say pretty much this.
I'd love to get an update as to when the servers will unlock, or if you could at least make them available to create characters on during low usage hours. It's a real joy killer when somebody convinces you to play a game with them, only to find out you can't actually play with them for a few weeks.

Edit: Well that was unexpected. Minutes after posting the server I was after unlocked, they most definitely DO unlock at certain times of the day.
