Excalibur has been closed since launch..Please help!

This thread is a mixture of a plea and a way to vent a bit of steam.

I played 14 during 1.0, and we started off on a server named palmora (sp?) through server merges we eventually ended up on Excalibur. Fast forward to the launch of ARR, and Now we have an issue where quite a few members of our guild (who is originally from FFXI) were unable to create a character because the realm was closed. One of those people happens to be my wife, a person I tried daily to talk in to playing the game during the period that I played 1.0. She refused because she thought she didn't have the time to get mixed up in another mmo. Finally, she agreed because she was missing our old friends from 11. SO, I bought her a copy of the game. During beta she had install issues and then issues with launching the game, once those were worked out the early access was nearly finished. Client issues knocked her out of the rest of early access. On launch day she got to create her character. However, our server, Excalibur was closed. We figured it would open in a few hours and all we had to do was be patient. A few hours turned into a day.. and then two days.. three days.. a week.. and now here we are almost 10 days after release and Excalibur is still closed to new characters.

I went through all the effort to get her to play, and she got exited to do so. Now that excitement has turned into anger because of the whole server lock thing. Without being able to play with friends, there really is no reason for her to play the game, and rightly so. Furthermore, I am unable to play much because it is infuriating to sit and watch someone do what you want to but can't.

For 10 days, I have sat and constantly refreshed the server list every 3 minutes, hoping to see our server unlocked. The posts they make about server closures is not helpful, as I have seen many times a server unlock when it was posted as closed on these posts. I've tried every way possible except the forums to contact square about it as well. The email support never responds, the phone number always gives a busy signal (not even a voice message) and there is no way to contact anyone through the game about issues other than harassment, bugs, exploits, or "i'm stuck".

After living through the 3102 hell, missing out on all of early access myself (I played 45 minutes, and that wasn't even continuous) and now spending all of my free time refreshing a server list, a lot of angst is beginning to jade my perception of the game. Compound that with the fact that I cannot play the game with my wife, and the additional frustration of being able to seemingly do nothing to solve the issue, it is just not worth it. I can understand being affected by one or two issues, I understand crazy high amounts of logins, wanting over all server stability, not having a crystal ball to predict the issues before they happen, I understand this. But when you are hit with every single issue that has affected other players, and then continue to be affected by a controlled perpetual lock out.. well, there comes a point when I can no longer sit back and "be patient".

I am making this post in the astronomically high chance that someone with some kind of insight or pull somewhere can do or say something to make this entire nightmarish process easier on us (me).

My wife and I do not want free time or some crazy demand. all we simply want is for her to be able to roll on to Excalibur server. Just open it for 5 minutes, hell, 30 seconds. or process a request internally. for the sake of Jesus Herold Christ, do something that can end the insanity that is us trying to enjoy this game and constantly being slapped with denials.

you could always roll a new character with her on a different server to play. thats what i did for my girlfriend. considering that most boss fights and a lot of main story quest battles are capped also. you will oth be up to 50 after 1-3 weeks most likely anyway. a week so far to hit 21 and only play like an hour or two a day

This should not be a required solution. Especially when it comes to 1.0 players. What's the point of carrying over the 1.0 data if we have to start over if we want any chance of playing with our friends?

This server has never been removed from the character creation restriction list since restrictions have started. I have friends that will not play the game until they can join us on our server. I've gotten to the point where I'm tired of logging in to be reminded I can't play with them.

Worst off, no one has even attempted to provide an estimate on when these restrictions may be lifted.

I know just how you feel, my son can't get on Excalibur, and my FC is on there, I have been in their guild for over 2 years. So I have a choice of roll on another server and play alongside my son, or stay with my guild and friends. However, you must remember that you are not the only people in this position and wanting them to make an exception for your wife by someone pulling some strings and opening it up for her is not going to happen and wouldn't be fair anyway.

What I am probably going to do is roll a new character on another server to play with my son. Hopefully sometime down the road in the next few months we might be allowed to transfer there, but what I am not going to do is sit around refusing to play the game because I can't play with my friends. It is better to play and have fun, and then by the time transfers to the high population servers are allowed you will both at least be at similar levels to your friends when you join them.

My wife and I are stuck in this issue too, our son wants to play with us but can't create a character on excalibur, both my wife and I have legacy characters and we are not keen on starting over and loosing all the friends we've made over the last few years.

I am experiencing the exact same issue on Hyperion. Worse, I lead our 60+ member free company. I can't ditch them just to create a fresh character on a new world with my wife for a few weeks. It would be nice if she could create a character on Hyperion and it was just marked as "Pending". Then, once the world is opened and her character is approved to be created, it would be nice to receive some sort of auto-mail informing us that her character is ready.

In the meantime, while we wait for the server to finally open, her playtime is ticking down despite not having any active characters.
