Woke up from the Inn: Is my exp bar gained??

My exp bar went little farther than before I slept, does that mean you start off your exp where you are now or does it do nothing and just starts from where you previously started because seems like it doesn't do anything because i'm near level 30 (just 2g's of exp more till 30) but I gained all that through sleeping but went to a battle to see if it triggers the level 30 and it does nothing??? and now I have to actually level up 2g's so it is same as if I did not sleep at the inn

The extra bit is bonus experience. You'll gain bonus experience for kills until you get to the point where that extra bit ends. Quest rewards don't count so the bar will continue to extend past the quest reward until you kill enough to finish off the bonus experience.

I could be being a moron with this response but... is it possible you are just seeing the 'bonus' exp for resting along your exp bar? Usually either shaded in comparison to the actual exp or sometimes colored blue.

I cant think of anything off the top of my head that actually gains you exp while you are logged out or asleep.

That bar is showing you how far on your level you will receive "Bonus" experience for...it does not mean that you "earned" any experience while you were sleeping.

Edit: Well, that is if you didn't turn off active help. I can see why some would want to do that. A green question mark in the middle of your screen can cause issues at times..

That's correct. It's a rested exp bonus from sleeping in inns, or being in a sanctuary area. It's a good habit to log out in an inn or in an sanctuary so you can accumulate rested exp bonus when you're logged out. That way, you can level a bit faster.
