My vision and thoughts on Musketeer and potential future job/class and upgrades

So it seems that Limsa Lominsa is such an empty city and needs more starting classes. Limsa Lominsa only has Marauder and Arcanist as the starting job/class in the city so far. Seeing that this lack of starting classes in the city, made me decided of thinking about adding the "Musketeer" which was rumored some time to be launched in a future content most likely via expansion by the developers back in 1.0. Anyway, I think Limsa Lominsa will be a great place for the Musketeers to start in because you've noticed that some of the npcs there have guns on their sheathe pockets. Plus Limsa Lominsa is a city port island home to a great navy/army of knights protecting the city from harm way, along with many great pirate places and people. By the way, I got this list somewhere on the internet if you look up some of the unconfirmed unimplemented classes for FFXIV on google, there a lot of list of rumored classes long time ago during the launch of the first version of FFXIV, the developers were thinking about adding these.

List of unconfirmed classes I found from here:

As you can see, Arcanist is already on the list and is already in the game. And it looks like Musketeer is on it the list as well but no confirmed date for release. I think adding the Musketeer will most likely be in the starting city of Limsa Lominsa. I've found some rumored info about it while doing some research and stumbled upon this description from this pic:

I've also got some of the inspirational ideas from some games that I’ve played before which included “Sword of the New World: Granado Espada” and “League of Legends” some of pictures would make a some great concept art inspiration for the developers of FFXIV to come up with Musketeer and a possible Fencing type job class in the game.

So my ideas for the weapons for Musketeer will be single pistols, then for the upgrade classes they will be given a choice for “Corsair” which was the class in FFXI and they were using pistols, they will have the ability to Dual Wield pistols for Corsair. As for the other optional upgrade from Musketeer, I was considering the class should start utilizing “Rifles, Muskets” for the job class upgrade for “Machinist” . By the way, “Musketeer” came from the French word meaning “infantry soldier equipped with a musket”, so I think it would be it’s a great idea for them to add it to the game. There’s also the Musketeer class in another mmorpg called Sword of the New World, that game actually used Muskets and pistols. So I seriously hope that Square Enix can add this feature to the Musketeer job class and its upgrades.

    Inspirational pictures:

    (rumored picture in ffxiv)

Then for the other class there’s the Fencer class for Disciples of War. The fencer class will be a little more off-tank class and dd/dps class, much like the Thief or Ninja from FFXI, also hoping for them adding Thief later to this game, and Ninja as an upgrade to it , all this in the next expansions for this game. But anyway, the Fencer class will use a 1-handed fencing swords like the common “Rapier” sword with other variant names, etc.. and maybe even use cutlass swords that are used by a lot of pirates. Therefore, I think Limsa Lominsa is a great place for this starting class. What makes them unique is that they have the ability to dodge and parry lots of attacks and focuses a lot on the dexterity attribute. The fencer job will be upgraded to the “duelist” and will be able to wield dual swords

As my ideas for Bard, I don’t know why the Archer would advance to a Bard class though, that’s really all wrong what they did. Bard should be a separate class from Archer, they aren’t related to Archer at all. As I find that the Bard class is a support/de-buff class, I’d figure that they should make a separate class upgrade for Archer. Archer should have an option to upgrade to a Ranger or Scout, etc. etc.

Here are some other classes that I haven’t mention that I’ll put in the list along with some pictures while researching inspiration concepts for the Flayer job class that they might put in the game:

Classes so far the in the starting city places prediction:
Limsa Lominsa: Marauder, Arcanist, Musketeer, Fencer
Ul’dah: Pugilist, Gladiator, Thaumaturge, Mystic/Enforcer (uses primary weapon as blunt weapons lsuch as mace, club, mornings star, etc.)
    Gridania: Conjurer, Lancer, Archer, Thief

So far my idea of additional classes and some of the 3rd and 4th advancement job for a few classes:
    Disciples of War:
    - Marauder > Warrior > Warlord? >
    - Gladiator > Paladin > Templar > Crusader?
    - Lancer > Dragoon > ?
    - Pugilist > Monk > ?
    - Archer > Ranger > Scout?
    - Musketeer (Weapon: Single pistol)(Role: Buff, Carry, DPS)
    1. Option 1 upgrade: Corsair (Weapon: Dual pistols) (Role: Support, Status Debuffs, Buff, Sustained DPS)
    2. Option 2 upgrade: Machinist (Weapon: Rifles, Muskets) (Role: Carry, Burst DPS)
    - Fencer (Weapon: Sharp edge swords: Rapier, sabre, etc.) (Role: Off-Tank, Carry, DPS)
    1. Option 1 upgrade: Duelist (Weapon: Dual-wield Swords) (Role: Off-Tank, Carry, Burst DPS)
    2. Option 2 upgrade: Rune Fencer (Weapon: 2-Handed Sword/Great Sword) (Role: Tank, Support, Sustained DPS)
    - Thief (Weapon: Daggers) (Role: Off-Tank, DPS)
    1. Option 1 upgrade: Dancer(Weapon: Dual-wield Daggers) (Role: Off-Tank, Buff, Sustained DPS)
    2. Option 2 upgrade: Ninja (Weapon: Dual-wield Daggers) (Role: Off-Tank, Carry, Burst DPS)

    Disciples of Magic:
    - Conjurer > White Mage > Seer/Seeress > (http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Seer = http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/White_Mage) (The Seer job is usually a stronger version of the White Mage.) > Geomancer/Devout/Priest/Priestess
    - Thaumaturge > Black Mage > Black Wizard/Dark Wizard > Sorcerer/Sorceress >
    - Arcanist: (Weapon: Book) By the way, since they already added these two optional upgrades in this game, I'll just add them here.
    1. Option 1 upgrade: Scholar (Weapon: Book) (Role: Support, Buff, Sustained DPS)
    2. Option 2 upgrade: Summoner (Weapon: Book) (Role: Carry, Support, Burst DPS)
    - Bard (Weapon: Wind Instrument) (Role: Buff, Support, DPS)
    1. Option 1 upgrade: Musician (Weapon: Wind Instrument)(Role: Carry, Burst DPS)
    2. Option 2 upgrade: Enchanter/Enchantress (Weapon: Wind Instrument) (Role: Support, Buff, Status debuff)
    - Mystic (Weapon: Blunt Weapons) (Role: Healer, Support, Buff, Status debuff)
    1. Option 1 upgrade: Illusionist?(Weapon: Blunt weapons) (Role: Primary Healer, Support, Buff, Status debuff, Sustained DPS)
    2. Option 2 upgrade: Puppetmaster (Weapon: Hand) (Role: Healer, Support, Burst DPS)

    Disciples of the Hand:
    - Engineer/Gadgeteer (Weapon: Blowtorch or Wrench?)(Role: Designing technological items, parts, weapons, etc. weapons such as making Musketeer's guns, etc.
^^ Maybe if Engineer job doesn't work out, they can just add recipes for making guns for Alchemist job.

    Advance classes:
    - Dark Knight (Weapon: Scythe or 2-Handed Sword/Great Sword) (Role: Off-tank, Carry, Burst DPS)
    - Samurai (Weapon: Great Katana) (Role: Off-tank, attribute debuffs)
    - Flayer (Weapon: Chain Whip/Flail-whip) (Role: Carry, Burst DPS) > Scourger
    - Red Mage (Weapon: Sword/Dagger) (Role: Healer, Support)
    - Blue Mage (Weapon: Club) (Role: Support, Burst DPS)
    - Gun Mage (Weapon: Pistol) (Role: Buff, Sustained DPS)

I hope you guys like what I put here, so let me know what you guys think and leave a feedback. . I know some of them may look and sound weird, but please don’t hate me for these ideas. I’ll constantly update them base on some of on your guys’ opinion and feedback.
If you guys have any advancement job names for the other class suggestions please post your thoughts here

There's a Musketeer station across from the Marauder station. So I'm pretty sure it's on the way.

The website image has been proven to be fake. This happened after Arcanist and Summoner were "leaked" on the FFXIV website.

I don't understand why it has to be Corsair. COR was SE's attempt at creating another "support" class that felt attractive due to few people wanting to actually play BRD. They even had to change the concept of the class because they originally wanted to call it Gambler but couldn't because of some bad connotation gambling has in Japan.

That being said, COR as you know it from FFXI would not work in this game. Random chance buffs and their shot ability aren't enough t build a class around in a modern MMO. This is also why BRD was built on top of the framework of Archer.

It's done and they're not going to change it. Besides, bow-wielding bard is not new seeing that the bard is an offshoot of the rogue archetype. Characters like Leliana from Dragon Age have proven it works and is awesome.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
    * Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

I'm not saying Corsair can't be added, but it would work out as an upgradeable class to Musketeer. Seeing that Musketeer will most likely have upgradeable options which I've mentioned in the description, Corsair as we know from FFXI would be a support DPS class. Then I've added "Machinist" which is a second alternative upgrade to Musketeer besides the Corsair.

Just like the Arcanist job in FFXIV ARR, the job is given two choices for a person to upgrade from. That's why I chose two choices depending on the type of playstyle the a person is looking into, either the Scholar which is more Support than DPS, or Summoner which is more DPS than Support. Corsair will be a "Soul Crystal" upgrade to the Musketeer.
So I'm pretty sure Musketeer is getting a choice of upgrading to Corsair as a Soul Crystal or another Final Fantasy related-job class that focuses more on DPS, and Machinist is the closest one that I can think of.

I see, yeah fair enough. Seeing the Bard class from Dragon Age actually worked out then it sounds reasonable to see it used on the Rogue/Archer/Assassin classes.

What do you think about the upgradeable choices for these classes for Musketeer, Fencer, and Thief?
    - Musketeer (Weapon: Single pistol)(Role: Buff, Carry, DPS)
    1. Option 1 upgrade: Corsair (Weapon: Dual pistols) (Role: Support, Status Debuffs, Buff, Sustained DPS)

rather than duelist, Red Mage branching off of fencer would make more sense, I would think.

Yeah, true. That could work, but I always thought the Red Mage would be a hybrid between Black Magic and White Magic and is more of a support/sustained dps class. But I am hoping that they can change and alter the "Red Mage" job/class as a straight up "Burst DPS", but I don't know if it'll work out.

So it would be something like this:
    - Fencer (Weapon: Sharp edge swords: Rapier, sabre, etc.) (Role: Off-Tank, Support, Carry, DPS)
    1. Option 1 upgrade: Red Mage (Weapon: Dual-wield Swords and Daggers) (Role: Off-Tank, Carry, Burst DPS)
    2. Option 2 upgrade: Rune Fencer (Weapon: 2-Handed Sword/Great Sword) (Role: Tank, Support, Sustained DPS)

i don't think that the class/job tree will be expanded vertically but horizontally.
yoshida said that if he had to ignore the game balance he would implement the red mage but he couldn't.
the thief would be good as a gladiator job since it can already use daggers and the weapon defines your class in xiv; the same could be said of the ninja since katana means literally sword.
the samurai could be a job based on a great sword class.

Calling it now, MRD + THM = DRK. So a MRD could branch off into WAR or DRK, while also pulling from LNC, and PGL. MRD could also branch off into SAM, since it also makes use of 'great' weapons.
