I'd personally prefer the GCD to be about 3 seconds but 2.5 works. Fast GCD was one of the main reasons I didn't enjoy world of warcraft

if you want to play a high speed mmo that involves little to no strategy, then please play world of warcraft, this game is not for you.
This game is intentionally set at a long GC due to the more strategic play style the game demands, it also gives a much opportunistic window of being able to chat between attacks to your team members. try talking to your team with a 1.0 GC. its nearly impossible.
All I learned from this thread was that the forums need a "Vote to close thread", I'd vote on this thread first.
This might be true if there were actually any significantly greater strategy that went into choosing which ability to use when, but... it's really no different in terms of "strategy" than any other tab-target MMO, including Rift and WoW. If you'd actually played such games instead of calling them out as the go-to shame targets, you'd realize this.if you want to play a high speed mmo that involves little to no strategy, then please play world of warcraft, this game is not for you.

And don't try to claim that the 1-1.5 extra seconds you get between abilities is actually enough to chat enable you to somehow better chat with people than other games. That's ignoring the fact that "Oh, but I want to chat with my friends" shouldn't really be a legitimate excuse anyway. You can do that outside a battle. Focus on the combat when you're fighting, please.
Sorry, but I think the game can be fun without having to be able to do 400 actions per minute to be challenging or whatever it is you want here. The GCD is fine the way it is. If the GCD was like .5 to 1 seconds and you're just clickety click all the time it wouldn't have broad appeal, and you and your friends would be pretty much the only folks playing the game. Personally, I'd rather not play in a ghost town. I figure when the newbies get to Titan hard mode, that ought to scare off enough of them as it is.

except alll this is simply just your're opinion not fact. If u feel that way fine but don't try to act like its fact.
I'd agree with you if you were talking about the 1.0 version. 2.0 animations are not (much) better than the rest of the recent MMOs.
Don't forget they balanced the game with the GCD in mind: in short, if you're having troubles keeping your party members healed, you have to adjust the way you heal. Speaking as a healer myself, I usually have no problems healing. To me as a healer, it's awful. I'll have to debuff, which the cast speed for that is way shorter than the global cool down. Then I'll have to wait to be able to heal whoever when they need healing asap. Or if I need to cast regan on someone and cure on another. Meh, I've never played a game with a global cool down. Don't really see the point in one.
Not really. With a proper setup you don't have to, and even if, it's <1 second if you know your layout.
Your assumption is wrong, I've been playing healer mostly, lately

I've been a long-time WoW player, and I haven't had any troubles switching to this game. If you want a faster GCD, MNK is a pretty good class for you. If you are playing a caster, you shouldn't see that much of a difference, since most of cast times are actually on the GCD (with some spells being off GC).
All in all, with cross-class abilities and end-game gear, it's really not too bad. At least, it's really what I do think.
I personally find the GCD fine as it is. If I need to cast a little quicker on my whm I use food but very rarely even need to do this when in a dungeon. I have also played paladin and have had no problems keeping the hate when I have a monk in the party who is trying to pull the hate just for fun, so for all the people saying its hard for a paladin to keep hate with the GCD then they doing something wrong as I was only in my AF and the monk had melded gear on and was using food and abilities to boost there skill speed. The only problem I've actually encountered in the game at the minute is the regen for a whm as the tick per second can build a lot of hate fast where as in 1.0 I could cast it on all party members now I just use it when needed on the tank to keep their health up when I run short on mp
I have no issues with the GCD time as it stands. It could be taken as a somewhat inexperienced opinion, as I've not played much of MMOs (only one I did invest time into was XI and XIV 1.0, and the times were far longer in those two), but it's mostly because I don't feel any need to constantly be pressing buttons to be entertained. I like being able to simply look at the battlefield every now and then when I don't have anything to use. I also don't have any problems having to wait 3 or 5 or even 10 seconds to cast something. I'm not in any rush to start doing something else, and I definitely don't find it boring to be waiting for it either.
As a related aside: I play all of the roles that are available, and I've not had any issue with the GCD on any of them; that includes healer, tanks, melee and ranged (both caster and physical).
