    Cooldowns and recast times are necessary, and a short "global" cooldown is a good idea so the game isn't spam-spam-spam. HOWEVER, it should not replace the recast time of a skill; it should only serve to separate the preceding skill from the one after it, and to that end it should be very short; all individual skills should all have their own recast/cooldown--not just the off-GCD ones.

    The GCD in XIV seems to be trying to fulfill both purposes--the "recast" of a skill, and that separation between abilities. Therefore it is too long to feel comfortable as a separator, and too short to require any meaningful planning/strategy when using on-GCD skills.

    Just my two cents. ^^;

    The only thing I really dislike about the slow gcd, and it is very slow, is being unable to stun things Because I have to wait 2.5 sec between attacks. Perhaps this improves later on.

    The combat at low levels really does feel sluggish. So many things are balanced around this so obviously it's not going to change. I do wonder why they went with such a slow pace though.

    The GCD is perfect. Not too long and not too short. Forces you to slow down enough to notice more of what is going on and think but still keep things going at a decent pace. IMO

    Slowing combat down does not make things more difficult. You and the monsters are "spamming" abilities just like every other game, it just happens a lot more slowly. This lowers difficulty if anything.

    Huge difference between skill speeds and global cooldowns. GCD effects the activation rate in which you can use MOST skills in general. While skill speed/spell speed effect the cast time and animation speed. WHICH is pointless sense youre limited by GCD. Which means if you cast a spell like Aero Instantly. It initiates a 2 second GCD. Which can be a pretty big deal for white mages. WoW's GCD is shorter from what i remember. but for classes that arnt melee like mages. that 2 second CD makes them pretty vulnerable. Id understand if the global Cooldown was more dynamic where certain skills initate different amount of times of GCD but; right now the GCD is a little pointless. You cant double cast skills; so the point? Instead of GCD. You can make it so that you cant cast another skill till your skill animation is finished? any motion cancels the skills. And whats the deal with archers? their action animations are still messed up.

    This is funny because i find alot of tanks above lv 40 having a hard time keeping aggro and using flash.
