They just need to let us buy straight from the item search counter. That changes nothing about the system except the completely useless time it takes to physically walk to the selling retainer.Like my other post about the convenience of repairs, this post is in regards to the conveniece of buying and selling goods. But I will make this one short.
Suppose I want a Dr. Pepper, which would be quicker:
1. I go to the store and get it.
2. I send my wife to go get it (nevermind that she'd tell me to go to hell).
I am keeping the argument simple. Its not about how good or bad the market place opperates. It is about convenience to useres. The less steps there are the more streamlined and fast the process. Time is money, and I don't have time to do unnecessary steps. Why make something take 5 min, when it could take 5 sec?
MMOs are by nature a time sink, but lets cut out the time sinks where we can yes?
Lindblum is having ridiculous market ward issues after this patch are others servers having the same problem?
It must have crashed about 10 times today, half the time the search window doesn't show anything and the retainers are constantly being reset.
SE really need to call it a day with the market wards they just aren;t working, I duno if this has been created by an influx in returning players or its just coincedence but come on SE just give us an AH already.
yea this game needs a real ah. i like the retainer idea tho, they should make it so u can set it up anywhere u want in town and, and make the ah work off of them but make it so u dont have to accual find the retainer to get, this would be nice quality of life upgrade to getting stuck in mw cuzz of the 100s of npc that are all bunched in same area.
none of this realy matter tho they cant make a ah sytem till they make a mailing system.
A question to ask yourself, OP, is that if both systems work only one is more convenient (slightly) than the other, why are we wasting the developers time and resources to implement an entirely new system when they could be working on the things this game actually still needs - like, idk, a delivery service, a message service, a way to moderate your Linkshell without standing on top of someone that needs to be moderated?
Here's where you tell me that there's different teams like that magics up some people to work on a redundant system. I don't want any resources wasted on redundancy. It's just something that any "different" team could be working on something else rather than creating a system that already "works" as you say.
I wish people would get over this. Pretty soon the devs are going to actually do it and then I'll be waiting another 12 months for a handful of dungeons or something. But hey maybe they'll tweak the size of mobs and spells in the meantime to give the illusion of actually changing something.
I give you the right to your opinion and agree that what you want is ever-so-slightly more convenient, but we have what we have and I'm ok with it. Let's focus on things we don't have and actually want or need.
I'd sacrifice toto, darkhold and ifrit, MAYBE EVEN CHOCOBOS for a market system that works. Trying to fix this game without having an economy in place for players to trade between themselves is like trying to build a building on a bad foundation.A question to ask yourself, OP, is that if both systems work only one is more convenient (slightly) than the other, why are we wasting the developers time and resources to implement an entirely new system when they could be working on the things this game actually still needs - like, idk, a delivery service, a message service, a way to moderate your Linkshell without standing on top of someone that needs to be moderated?

Quality > Quantity
Yeah Jinko the market wards on my server have been down all day, and I was trapped in one for over an hour at one point. Pretty annoying, and makes it extremely annoying. And I have to disagree that just buying from the item search would fix the problem. It would still be impossible for you to get a retainer in any ward half of the time, and once the servers aren't dead it would be impossible.
Anyone see the first page of the new FFXIV 2.0 Systems and Content PDF?
