Whatever it's called, I'd like a system where I can go to a specific location, see what's for sale and for approximately how much, and buy and sell right there on the spot. In general, I'd like for buying and selling to have as few intermediate steps as possible.
With the current system I only buy when I really have to and I almost never sell. With two different sets of menus (ward and retainer) and all the warping and running around, it's just too cumbersome.
Are you kidding me? As few intermediate steps as possible???? The game would be soooo easy mode if you took out unnecessary time-wasting actions. You're obviously just not hardcore enough for this game. Go play WoW. It's where all the casual low-life noobs play-- or at least that's what this one guy who I know told me, and he made it all the way to level 20 before he formulated an opinion, so it must of been valid and non-biased.
WoW is for lowlifes? New to me considering they have what? 100x the population of XIV?
The cat is out of the bag, since the addition of the official forum the community has exposed itself as being just as terrible if not far worse than the WoW community, sad but true.
You yourself have proven this with your rage post and baseless insults.

I want them to make the selling process easier. Put all selling functions at the zone line and keep buying the way it is. In addition, add some kind of help text in the Item Search interface that shows Low, Avg, High prices for the last 7 days so when you come across an item that doesn't get posted often, you'll be able to price yours accordingly. Throw the Ebay argument out, but you're wrong. You can always find out what your goods sell for even IRL. In addition, for items that are really uncommonly sold, I would also like to see a "Last Sale" price added to that help text.
Make us run to retainers to buy stuff, fine, I don't care. But at least give us a streamlined process for selling and some more information so our goods actually sell, and people actually buy.
Your steps are a little too many, the quickest I have gotten an item from the wards is 1 minute and not any quicker. AH even FFXI style you go to AH, pick the item type, pick item category, (use sort function if you haven't alread), simple scroll to the item by level or alphabetical order, usually takes me in FFXI about 30 seconds to find what I am looking for, especially if you already know the system, no loading screens, simple click and buy. (I do admit that sometimes the transaction could drag out because of the way the FFXI item history worked and didn't know the flat price for the item, easily fixable though)No we do not.
Current Marketward Transaction
Enter wards
Search for Item
Find Seller
Go to ward
Pick up Item
The quickest you can do it is approximately 30 seconds. The longest I've ever searched for a specific item is less then 2 minutes.
FFXI > Blind Auction
Run to AH
Search through item lists for item you want
Find item you want (100 Listed)
Check Item History
Bid for item 10% lower then item history:
wait 5 seconds
Fail
Bid for Item 5% lower then item history:
wait 5 seconds
Fail
Bid for item same as last item History:
wait 5 seconds
fail
Re-check Item History, Recent item has been sold since last checked. 15% more then one before it.
Bid for item same price as new last one sold :
wait 5 seconds
Fail
Bid for item 5% more then last one sold:
wait 5 seconds
Success, Item delivered to inventory.
WoW
Go to Auction House.
Filter through items you want. See that everything in your level is posted for prices that are way above your characters possible gold at your level.
Find one that is decent. Bid on it.
Wait 2 days. Lose Bid.
Look again
Find new item. Bid.
wait 4 hours. Win Bid.
Wait hour for item to deliver to mail box.
Find mailbox to pick it up.
Auctions Fail. The only difference between the Marketward and an Auction house is the marketward has no Auction. Blind or Timed.
Now for WoW they do have a buy it now but guess what.
Search for item
Buy It Now
Go to Mailbox
Pick up Item
YOU STILL HAVE TO GO PICK UP THE ITEM.
WoW style is even easier, if you know part of the name of the item you want like poison potions, you type poi or poison in the search bar and all items with that name pop up. Or you can search in the same FFXI manner, that takes about 10 seconds. True you have to pick up the item from the mailbox but it is usually outside the AH or 20 steps away and not inconvient, you pass by 100 mailboxes anywhere you go in a city. (Using Buyout option and not bidding btw)
Also as he said it is not about market wards suck or anything of the sort, just simply saying give us an AH because it is still more convenient no matter how you look at it. Personally I say when they give us an AH keep retainers around as well because no doubt you will have limited space probably to put items up on AH like FFXI, and still want to bazaar sell stuff on your retainer.

people will still state your wrong, and your times are off, and that you dont know what your talking about
people need to just get over it, if anything they just need to streamline/adjust the system a bit more and itl be fine(such as showing hq gear in searches)
every game makes you run around a bit to get your item, the difference is here you get it at the store, not at your home after you finish shopping and run back to it
all the menus, searching for the items you want, etc etc all is there, so you can not in any way shape or form even count the "menus" as something other games dont have, cuz they do!

As they are right now, the MW are simply not working imho; time is much better spent on making an AH rather than fixing these. I mean, it's probably going to happen eventually, no matter what people say.
There is supposed to be a signature here.
We do need an AH and they have promised us one. So I will wait. ^^
I hope that they improve FFXI's AH design and all will be well. ^^
FFXI's design was simple, easy to use, and no wait time. If you bought things then they were in your inventory. The only thing that got sent to your mailbox was money and items that didn't sell.
