    More Conienient Repairs!

OK, I am a lot more happy with the the reduced rate of durability loss. However, I do see room for improvement on that. So I would still like to see it reduced a bit more.

My main focus of this post in the convenience factor of repairs. The less often I need to seek repairs, the more convenient it is to me as an adventurer. The lower the ingredient requirements are for the repair, the more convenient it is to me. Lastly, but not to be over looked, the faster and less of a hassle it is to repair things, the more convenient it is to me.

Now I have seen improvement on the first two issues (always room for more improvement), but the last one I haven't. We have to unequip gear to get it repaired by a PC. Why? The NPC can repair without this extra step, why should PCs be limited in this way. It doesnt seem ike much, but every little bit that helps streamline the process will help. I suggest keeping the seek repair option that works pretty much like it does now, but the players would not have to unequip items.

While i think any improvements to the repair system would be helpful, there are times when going into town or trying to get a repair in the field are just annoying. So I'd like to steal an idea I saw on one of the fansites (OP of idea: step up and claim your idea if you so desire) a while back. Repair Kits!!! I don't think there is much need to explain, the name says it all. Each crafter class could create these kits and sell them in stacks to non-crafters --- gil sink accomplished/ crafters are relevant.

Lastly I would like to see 100% repairs on ALL items (even accessories) from the repair NPCs. It could still be expensive to promote the idea of going to a crafter instead, but I'd like it there for emergency/ noone is around purposes.

Please consider these kind of improvements as I think they will help make a more enjoyable game, especially for non-crafters.

    No.
Even if a repair from npc will cost 500k, money are so a no-problem people will do only that, and crafter will be useless.

I'll never spend 500k on it, but I craft also, and crafting can eat up 500k in a second :/

I don't beleive this at all. Crafters will always be relevant. If nothing else that new materia system the devs were talking about will ensure that. Understand, I am not trying to hurt the crafters, I just want a more fun and streamlined and convenient process as a non-crafter. I don't mind going to crafters. In fact I'd like to help out crafters in my LS as much as possible, but sometimes you need a quick solution when no LS mates are around or if your not in Uldah.

Then I give you credit where credit is due Cairdeas. Really awesome idea too btw. Could you provide a link or flesh it out more for us all to see? Thanks in advance.

I won't say they arent much more convenient, then they were at the begining. However, as I said before, there is always room for improvement. The less steps there are and the more streamlined it is the better. As I said before, having to unequip armor, when you don't have to for the NPC is very annoying and unnecessary. It makes me choose the NPC hands down when I'm in a hurry. So lets not act like there arent too many steps that offput people, because there clearly are. On the other hand, if we had repair kits, I'd likely never use the NPC, because then I would be able to repair instantly through the use of an item without unequiping gear, and remain in the field without the inconvenience of going back to town.

in line with "repair kits" the only way i wouldnt mind seeing them is if they did the following

    1) were not generalized, make them specific ie: canvas fent repair kit, iron rivet repair kit.
    2) made them so that they could still fail. But change the factors of failing the repair. Make them based on optimal rank vs if your the right class and so on and so forth. So a conj wearing heavy armor 20 ranks above his level would have one hell of a time getting that repair to work(lets face facts he shouldnt have been wearing it anyway)

there are ways to make them work, but dont make them super easy end all way to cut out the need to get repairs at all like im sure some people are wanting

Well I am looking for a solution that would make people happy, so as long as you arent writing off the idea by default I am fine with any ideas on how to approach such a thing. This idea would not cut out repairs, it would just make it more convenient. As far as complexity of how the system works and success rate, I am not oppsed to those ideas either. Thats absolutely fine if I have to follow ceratin criteria and its not 100% success rate, all I am interested in is the convenience factor. If I wanted to get rid of repairs, I'd have titled the thread: Get rid of Repairs!!, but I didn't.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

a repair kit would be nice, but you would hurt the lower level crafters who could not make the kit and if they could make a kit and make like velveteen at r15 for the kit it's take away the need for high level crafters to repair high level gear. i guess you could do it as like a multiple tier repair kit as in low level crafters could make a level1 level2 so forth and so on as their skill increases.

Obviously they'd have different tiers of the kits for each type of armor level

Canvas Kit, Velvateen Kit, Iron Kit, Bronze Kit, etc.

Cut down the number of mats needed for repair from being absolutely anything from the game to a cluster of approximately 12 or 15 kits two per level range basically.
Though with this system I'd say remove durability from accessories. Only Body, Legs, Hands, Boots and Weapon should have durability.
