    Official Harassment Thread

To help keep the FFXIV community at it's high standards or help raise those standards, this thread is to hold those who harass, accountable for their actions.

If you have been harassed, please share the name of the character, server and proof of harassment.

Hopefully this can be used to help Free Company leaders make good decision on the type of people joining for their Free Company and be warned of those who will disgrace their Free Company.

    Thank you

Edit: Ok then. The people have spoken. In 1.0 if you were known for harassing others, you would not be able to join a Free Company. You would be that guy on the server. Now its just common place. I don't think people should be able to get away with the type of harassment we have been seeing. Holding them accountable with this thread is not a good idea per the comments below. I will not be bumping, let the thread die if you wish.

No. This thread is bad and you should feel bad.

People are not going to have any sort of objective opinion on people they feel harassed them; they may even post names here arbitrarily, or worse, deliberately. Proof may not be there, but that won't stop anybody. Nobody should ever condone this style of witch-hunt thread, and it should be subjected to a quick removal.

Now what if there are 5-6 different people named Fluffy Sweater? Are people going to be rude to all of them and go "Oh well I heard about you from the OF and you're rude" and then innocent people who did nothing wrong get blamed for one person actions?

If you're sensitive to what other people say to you online why do you play online in the first place?

Well, I want to help your thread out. Do you know of, or have any examples of any other MMO's that have implemented a harrassment policy? Or is it usualy protocol to report the issue to a GM? At the end of the day, it is a game, and you literally can just get up and walk away from this life. I can understand if someone is blowing up your tells, or 'intentionally' causing parties to wipe. But if it's something like verbiage that you can't handle, you really just need to focus on finishing that instance, or just drop and re-join another group. Unless they implement a blacklist option (which I agree, they should), sooner or later the person harrassing will get bored. Maybe they'll realize that it's just a game, and if you die/ wipe, due to someone being "new" or unfamiliar" with a battle.. that again, it's just a game. Luckily, you can't de-level like you could in XI.

Anyway, from my understanding, playing a game online with strangers has ALWAYS been at your own risk. If you are that fragile and get broken up by someone yelling at your Miquo'te for not healing properly.. you may want to take a few minutes to evaluate what really matters in life.

Here is the biggest problem with this tread:

I would like to name Felix Anderson as a troll.

I agree with the idea of this but it will be abused. The other thing is I highly doubt SE will allow naming and shaming in the forums.

We did something like this in FFXI, would tell people on our servers who to watch out for, etc...

The problem with this is that a lot of the issues seem to come from people being rude in Duty Finder. You don't know what server they are from using Duty Finder unless they tell you. So if I said. "Hey FLUFFY SWEATER was rude to me in Duty Finder, they did X, Y and Z to me and don't play with them."

Now what if there are 5-6 different people named Fluffy Sweater? Are people going to be rude to all of them and go "Oh well I heard about you from the OF and you're rude" and then innocent people who did nothing wrong get blamed for one person actions? At this point with the way SE has things set up, and the Duty Finder it wouldn't work. So this would cause more harm then good.

I agree that it is good to try to help the community as a whole against rude players, but this tactic won't work at this time with the way the game is with Duty Finder (which I avoid at all costs).
