Black Mage Crowd Control

I was thinking of playing a black mage, but I'm not very good at crowd control. In dungeons and raids, do they have to CC much with their sleep spell?

I didn't have to in P3.
It is just really helpful in some situations. Usually when the tank marks, I sleep 2 and 3 but people wake them up so there's that...

Depending on if your tank knows how to play his class or not but sleeping mobs help your healer have an easier time healing. Usually for GLD/PLD, you sleep it after they use Flash and for MRD/WAR after Overpower.

yeah it lasted pretty long, as long as some people don't wake them up.

In some cases though, might as well spam Blizzard 2 rather than sleeping them

i believe, and quite fervently, that sleeping adds is always more preferable (i play healer and tank). but when you do, just makee a macro and make sure everyone knows u r sleeping.

and the occasions during which you should just spam ur aoe spells are very limited i.e. only for packs with very low hp. so do not spam aoe without discretion if you could T.T

Is it difficult to CC, or does the tank usually mark the mobs before pulling? You can CC more than one at a time??
