    in addition to that like you said it would be awesome if certain non-native spells became something different when used by a DOW, or have different side effects perhaps, you can make things more job-like and logical. But atm i bet SE is still busy fixing the current skills/looks and also the battlesystem as a whole. So we might have to wait for the battlesystem changes/jobsystem changes to go live, and see what is left from the current system.

    The system atm where everyone can do almost everything in just the same way with same (just not that strong) effects is an easy and boring solution. So the ideas of giving other animations, AND other effects would be awesome.

    It would change the system and make it more complex but why not having "fire" set on a DD increase his str. for a bit and add fire dmg, so the offensive spell turns into an enchantment (just an example). That would make the system more fun, one could try a lot of combinations and they could be more then a "low-lvl-copy" of the native spell, they could change in animation and functionality. I would love that.

    The quickening ability on glad could make him block better and faster for a short time... and so on.

    So make every ability change with the jobs to a certain degree. That would make
    1) way for even better customisation
    2) improve the job but not taking away its uniqueness, it would even strengthen the uniqueness
    3) would make more abilites useful to use on another character since they improve the job but not giving him the exact ability from another job. Fire on Marauder is useless but if that system changes, Fire can be a nice addition. Elemental resistances or buffs could be put on melee characters etc. etc.
