I've only had one really bad experience and it was in Haukke Manor. The other Thaumaturge in our party thought he should be the leader and knew all the best tactics. All he did was complain and insult everyone in the party and constantly caused us all to die. During the first mini boss he sat on the sidelines. We just left the duty and waited our 15 minutes to enter again. I think it is unfortunately inevitable that we will all run into rude people in this game and it is probably best just to report/blacklist them. I'm all for people offering advice in dungeons but if that advice comes with a side of sass I'll pass.

Screenshot/report it, and then move on or troll the db right back. Personally I wouldn't leave(hey, why should I have to suffer the time penalty?), so I'd probably troll back or just go afk and leave him talking to himself.

That being said, I don't see why one should just bend-over and take it like some have suggested here. We have our share of DBs and ragers in Eve, and I've always enjoyed it when the ragers gets temp or perma banned after throwing racial slurs or RL threats around - not because they hurt my feelings, but rather that not only did I get to farm their delicious tears, I also get to see them kick themselves where it hurts - their wallet.

I genuinely pity anybody who read the bile in that twitter screenshot and thought that it was an acceptable piece of discourse. I'm an adult and have been on the internet more than long enough to not be bothered personally by such hateful drivel, but that doesn't mean it's justifiable in any way.

Online communites such as MMO's and social networking sites form a very substantial portion of the media used to communicate and socialise these days, so suggesting that they should not be subject to the same regulations that allow decent civlised people to converse without having to be insulted or threatened is frankly absurd.

It is the publishers responsibility to provide an avenue for reporting such abuse and taking the appropriate action, and it is that of the players to file such reports. If you encounter such behaviour and choose not to report it then this is your prerogative, but to state that people should just tolerate it is just plain wrong.

I am so sick of the term "bully." If my son gets bullied and suspended from school for kicking a bully's arse I won't even blink.

    That being said...

This guy seriously needs to be reported. I am still amazed that S-E didn't bother to add a right-click report, vote-kick, or any number of "standard" anti-grief measures. It isn't like this is Eve, you can't just (electronically) stab the guy in the throat and find someone to replace him. That dude was simply off his meds.

I like to tank, I would have taken that opportunity to tell him to piss off, then I would have gone AFK.

BTW, this isn't about calling someone out for being bad, this is about someone going off the deep end in a game that is brand new and people are still learning. I have gotten used to people learning slower than me, just as there are people who run circles around me.

Oh well, just keep playing. Let them have the heartburn of getting bent out of shape over a game.

SE doesnt have the manpower to be everyone's momma and make them play nice with other ppl

if you dont like who you are grouped with, leave the group and put them on your blist

if you dont want ANY chance AT ALL to group with players whom you may not like, stop using a tool that groups you with RANDOM ppl and instead FORM YOUR OWN GROUPS

also, take comfort in the knowledge that the person you blisted is not going to get that dungeon done just like you are not - so either they learn to play nice so ppl will stay in a group with them or they DONT GET TO FINISH DUNGEONS with random ppl

however, since you are a nice person, you have FRIENDS you can run dungeons with when RANDOM ppl are grinding your nerves

    there, that simple

    carry on

I don't really buy the whole argument that some people just like to be dicks on the internet. If you're trash on the internet then you're trash in real life. I still can't figure out why MMO's attract such dicks. This is a fantasy game, not the NFL (not that all football fans are dicks).

    Side Note on Duty Finder:
I would love to see a tick box you could check that flags you as a newbie to the instance. And then also have a filter that people could use to either not allow newbie, allow only newbies, or a mix of both.

I would also like this. It would be nice to go with others who are all new to the dungeon and want to learn. In the same vein, those that want to only play with experienced players can do so. When a player is new to a dungeon, there is an exp bonus so it would encourage those that care to run with newbies.

I would like to see such offensive people banned from using the Duty Finder.
