I wouldn't care if i couldn't wear a hat with a body piece that has a hood, if i could just put it down at times. It's more a visual thing really, like hiding the head slot, sometimes just looks better.

They should just have /hood trigger auto-hide on the headgear.
Problem solved. Whm looks the part~
Currently, the /visor doesn't work with any helm that is part of the body's mesh. It doesn't affect just hoods, it affects heavy armor too like the PLD/WAR Darklight, which imo it's worse than the hood issue, it makes it seem like your character can't move at all inside that thing.
This. The reason it doesn't affect hoods specifically isn't because of clipping, it's because they can't just rotate that part of the model with no changes and have it look right like they can with visors. They'd basically have to design new "down" models for every "up" hood in the game, and new "up" models for any "down" hoods like the WHM AF.Currently, the /visor doesn't work with any helm that is part of the body's mesh. Is it? I'm not really playing DRG so I don't have it in memory. Anyway, the majority of the gear isn't :P
If by "he" you mean me, I surely have not. Others have, though.
