People are not soloing to 50, They are grouping for dungeons FATES, and quests, the reason why people who mostly solo can even raise up to such a high level is they are fortunate enough to be able to utilize the high population to zerg FATES, and the High Population to get Q'd for the dungeons. The game just launched and the lack of a dispersed population level range wise has led to an abundance of group oppertuinity that can be used to advance, in a month or 2 it will be much harder to solo to 50, you wont have as much FATE access or dungeons. no one is Soloing to 50. Its just very easy right now to get a group or engage in FATES with inflated numbers due to the game just launching. its all temporary.

I guess I'm part of the problem on this one. I am pushing level 30 on my main and I have yet to finish a dungeon, or even attempt one in the live launch. I entered Sastasha in beta 3, but my group was disorganized, to say the least. The healer didn't heal, the tank ran ahead of everyone constantly and the second DPS class died and quit within the first five minutes. I just really dislike the Duty Finder system, and I don't know a single other person who plays this game with whom to team for such tasks. Makes dungeon crawling kind of a chore. If I could solo them, or even just run a nerfed dungeon with one other person, I think I would like it more, but as an archer the long waits for eventual disappointment are just not worth the time. I want it to be fun, I really do, but so far the dungeons are not my cup o' tea.

All of my exp thus far has been through quests and fates, and I am really enjoying my time in the game, despite the dungeon-avoidance. Maybe all of that will change once we get the first wave of new jobs/classes, but for now, I think I'm staying the course. As for learning how to play my character correctly, I think I'm doing a damn fine job of that just by reading these forums and working out my skills in the field. My archer is augmented with some skills from other DPS and tank jobs, and I have leveled the Conjurer to build some fairly effective healing macros. I like it just as it is, so far.

FATE events need to be nerfed by about 30%, imo.

Dungeon "final" reward needs to go up by at least 100% if not more. 11k at the end of a 1 hour long dungeon is uninspiring.

By my count you get ~100k from Dzmeal Darkhold, and that's only on the first run for someone in your party. That's ~10 FATE events if you don't count Svara in Coerthas, which tend to complete faster than the dungeon which is at least 60 to 90 minutes long. The only plus side is you have the chance to get armor from dungeons.

Guildhests would be a good level to nerf FATE events to. First time doing them is amazing, but there's never any reason to go back. They are challenging and require you to know how to play, but the rewards are paltry beyond the first time. A fairly technical 10-15 minute fight for what amounts to ~1/2 the exp from equivalent level fates is crazy.

Add to the fact that FATE events also give seals and it's basically a no-brainer while leveling up.

Well your first lvl 50 class/Job is strongly supported by the storyline and as you get higher the storyline quest provides a lot more group content you are forced to group with others.

lvl 40 - 50 is lacking in quests during that range making the only method to leveling being dungeons and FATEs. By then you'll need to join people for FATES and join dungeons a lot just to get from lvl 40 to 50.

You'll have to do a couple of dungeon runs to finish the main story.
Since you're near 30 and only been to Sastasha I'm guessing you're not advancing the main storyline?

On topic, I would love to see mob grinding back but I'm sure it will stay dead. That type of gameplay just doesn't appeal to the masses and sadly the ones that we do like it are a small minority.

I want to know why very little to no combat, running around errands, talking to npc, picking fruit, watering gardens, traveling to this town, going here to talk to this npc, giving 10different npc items, traveling here on your chocobo, going here and talking to this npc etc, is so appealing to the masses. Literally 95% of the time spent on your chocobo, or talking to NPC's, Less than 5% spend in actual combat. How is that fun? I was so bored doing the story, I wanted to fight, I wanted to play my class, my character, kill things. The dungeons were super fun, the solo fights were nice, the ending of the story was INCREDIBLE, but the infinite errands...why SE, WHY?

Why exactly does this appeal to the masses so much? What is so fun about it?

As long as the nerf to FATE exp was slight, people would still do them for seals. Also, after the main storyline is done, unless you're good at playing the markets, I get the impression that gil becomes hard to come by, so some people do FATEs for gil, too. However, seals and exp are the main attractions of FATEs.

Though I normally love quests, I have to admit, I wish more of the quests involved fighting the numerous mobs scattered around the hamlets. I don't mind an occasional item gathering quest, but there are too many of those and others like it. Good point. But otherwise, I love quests.

Let's bring back anesthetic free dentistry while we are at it. Probably more enjoyable then "grind partys". Seriously though, they won't buff dungeon exp till they are 500% sure the DF server thing can handle most of player base spamming dungeons as opposed to fates.
