I tried to post this in Bug Report - Not a Bug but it wouldn't let me. I also was going to post this under Feedback but it appeared to be Website Feedback and not Game Feedback. If this is the wrong forum for this topic, I apologize and please feel free to move it to where it needs to go.
This was original posted on the Reddit ARR sub-forum by a user named DeadlySight and titled "Debuff max is 30. Intended or...?" I can link to it if needed so you can read all the replies, but this was the original post. So, I'm a Summoner and I noticed this during Svara today. Fight starts, I go Bio2-Bio-Miasma-Thunder-Fester.
"Fester has no effect."
What? I search the maxed out double line of debuffs and sure enough I have no DoTs on the mob. My DoTs have been replaced by others. With more testing I've all but completely confirmed the max number of negative status effects on a mob is 30. Is this an intended mechanic, planing to be changed, or just an oversight?
In 24 man raids if this remains Summoners are almost completely useless. 1.25 status effects/player is insanely low.
My question is if this is working as intended and is part of the game system for all mobs, or if this is just for FATEs to prevent monsters from being bulldozed by 100+ players? This has no current issues in 4/8 man content because it's pretty much impossible to reach 30 Dot/Debuffs. But in Crystal Tower or Labyrinth of Bahamut, this issue will rise in 24-man raids. Pretty much all the DPS jobs bring between 1-3 DoTs and debuffs, and as do the tanks.
It'll be a bit of a pain for a few people, but it's going to kill Summoner. Having a Summoner stand there and only spam Ruin is nearly as bad as asking a Black Mage to simply spam Blizzard I and nothing else. And moving damage from DoTs to Ruin instead of raising the 30 debuff cap would kill the flavor of having a DoT based class.
That's all I wanted to share. Not sure what else to say. That about sums it up.
