Yesterday I managed to get White Mage (Lv. 30). Would it make sense to level Scholar (Lv. 30) for "flexibility" purposes? Would it be useful?
Summoner doesn't seem that appealing eitherway...

What is your definition of 'flexibility' if you're not interested in summoner?

I meant flexibility as a healer. Been reading around that both White Mages and Scholars excels in some areas while aren't that good in others. So, in a way, being able to play any of those two roles.
The last comment about Summoner is that I'd probably not get it as a Job, at least for now? (?)
you only need to do a quest to be SMN and following quests to learn each summons, so theres no reason to skip on SMN with that little effort. Its easier to do majority of quests as SMN also.
Only level 2nd jobs when 1st job hit 50, it give you +50% xp buff on everything.

In terms of healers, I'd say having both in your arsenal will make you very flexible 8man + content. I've levelled SCH to 36 so far but spent some time doing some comparisons between WHM and SCH. I've unlocked WHM and played it a bit but I find SCH more interesting. However in terms of pure healing power I think even I have to admit that WHM is stronger. The difference between the two though decreases as you get higher and SCH offers different things.
I thought when I started that I'd play CNJ and then WHM, maybe opening up SCH. I thought I'd try ACN and open SCH first because WHM was a given. In the end I've found WHM a little boring in comparison but it's getting better slowly. I love SCH, it keeps me on my toes and that's what WHM used to do for me in FFXI.
Well whm would technically be a bit more flexible since having one or two whm in a full party is alright, while having more than one scholar isn't exactly smiled upon.
I'd argue the main selling points of each healer is this: sch has more flexible tools (I'd prefer lustrate over benediction any day, fairy, benefits to overhealing), while whm are far better at aoe healing.
