You'd have to compare TPS and DPS and determined if they balance against each other, because one tank being less survivable than the other supersedes DPS e-peen because if you're the tank you're supposed to be able to take the damage and perform comparably.I'm a full time PLD and with an optimized skill rotation, including 100% up time on fracture, my damage on a training dummy in a 120 second period totals between 14k and 15k. I can switch to WAR which I never play, half guess the rotation, mess up fracture, use fury inefficiently, and still put out 17k damage in the same time span.
This is with Shield Oath and Defiance on, of course.
There's your balance.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
