Lvl 20 Fight - assume spolier in thread

    Hello

Not having a go at healers i just don't know their mechanics and thus this question.

I want to know (as it was my first go at trying to defeat Ifrit) should a WHM be able to revive a party member during the fight? or is it just heal only as revive takes too long?

I only ask as when trying with the group last night I went down when I could not run out of his AOE near the end of the fight and died (other times it was other members). In the end we all died.

Anyways had fun and look forward to beating him tonight. I will say that some of the fun/satisfaction/challenge is working out his moves and then what to do.

Edit: Also as a Archer would it be better to have magic resistance on this fight or are his attacks not deemed to be magic?

Later on you get a trait to revive during fight at level 28.

The first trial, right? For healer, you're more likely to get a Conjurer than a White Mage.

Raise cannot be cast in the middle of combat until they are Level 28.

Which AoE are you referring to? Hellfire? You need to destroy the Infernal Nail as soon as you see it. Or is it the cracks on the floor or the plumes?

    Hi.

Its the AOE that change from edge to center. It just seems that i get caught and run but too late....or i think i got out and then bam hit .

As at this stage i am running around a bit like a headless chook trying to avoid the AOE's so I am not sure if he has another attack that covers most of the ground. During this time I think the healer is trying to keep the tank alive.

We seemed to get under his last 10% each time.

It may take a few tries but you will get it, make sure you kill that nail.

Make sure you don't get tunnel vision and keep an eye on your surroundings. For the record, though, Raise is incredibly expensive to cast and has a long cast time without Swiftcast, so it's not the answer. Not to mention it leaves you at low HP with reduced max HP, it's not always as helpful in-battle as you may think it would be.

For Radiant Plume, the move you are talking about in particular, I believe he always does 2 in a row, outside ring then in the center. It's best to not be right at the edge or right in the center of the arena so you have time to run. If he does the outer ring, move out of the center because he will follow it with the inner one, and vice versa.

That nail is you go-to and FAST. As soon as it spawns, hit it. As a CNJ I drop some DPS on it if I can.
I mean you BARELY make it even with everyone going at it.
The healer needs to use Medica when can, what's best too, let them or you [Since you are an archer. You also have the healing Limit break.]
If the tank does not use it before his huge hitting AoE, use it afterwards while the healer keeps healing unless he used it.

After that, you need to move quick out those things on the edge, if you think you got out and didn't you must have lag or something.

lol - yea nail has not been the issue.

So essentially (or party members as well) the outcome of all this is that it is a combination of any of the following
    - My gear is too low
    - I not running out the way quick enough (lag could be problem)
    - After having no issues to date with game i have come back to earth with a thud.... I am not as good as I thought i was

    Thanks

Also something to keep in mind is that Ifrit has a set interval between his moves, so don't be afraid to take it a little slow and get a feel for how much time you have in-between his attacks and get yourself ready to move. In this fight it is better to survive than to push your damage, as I'm sure you are aware.

Just keep at it and you're bound to get through it, and it will get you ready for the battles to come.

lmao - last night when i logged i had a group pretty quick and......

    Ifrit gone first go.

Same gear etc as night before just watched Ifirt/ground a bit more and survived. I think though that the other party members were a lvl or 2 above my first team which may have made a decent difference as well.
