totally agree with the being able to black list accounts verses just the player. that last " cleaning" they had only got rid of 1 player on my black list of over 200. also to enable a feature where lets say 50 people black list an account or player that the account automatically goes into suspension until further investigation from admins. would be GREATLY appreciated. players should not have to do the leg work to have a fun game the admins should be the one making the game fun for players. this is beyond getting out of hand and nothing is properly executed.

That would enable ALOT of grieving/trolling... Just think about that for a second. An FC member gets a rare hair up his tush and asks his FC to blacklist x person to get them suspended. That would get way out of hand.

touche. i thought about that for a moment but you can always up the number. that could be addressed if they have proof. if its all from one fc it wont matter just 50 individual players separate fc's.

They do enough to make it look like they are doing something (their weekly we suspended 4000 accounts related to RMT/illicit activity) while at the same time they can count the 4000 accounts x $25 per copy they just earned.

Many times I've heard the potential for abuse of a report/auto-account lock system, and I've gotta speak up and say with the proper designed system this would not be a concern. Easily solved with a 'Report as Spam, option which is only available in the from down box after receiving an initial Tell which initiated contact by that person. If someone doesn't send a Tell to a specific user who might want to grief them in the first place, then that user (along with any others they collude with) wouldn't be able to troll them by getting them banned by mass reporting them- what's there to report? I've heard of abuse by he player base a lot as a reason not to have something like this, but how many people initiate one-on-one conversations with a dozen or more large people in a short timeframe, all willing to themselves break the ToS and risk their own account status by falsely reporting the person as a spambot when it's clear that isn't the case?

These scenarios would not be able to happen:
Person A: Hi how are you?
Person B: Fine thanks.
Person A: (Heeheehee I'm gonna report Person B for RMT spam now)
Reason this won't work- Person B did not send an initial Tell, no option would show to click Report as Spam

Person A: Hey let's report Person B for RMT there's NO WAY we'd get caught from this chat log being reviewed where we discuss it!
Person C: OK sure let me pass the message on to 8 of my friends and we'll all do it!
Reason is won't work- Person B did not send Tells to all these people in the first place, or at least not immediately before they all decided to report them.

What IF Person B sent a Tell to a few people that wasn't RMT, and they already had a plan to lie and report them as such? Any false reporting would be easily visible as the system would save off the contents of any messages reported as spam should an account get banned, and an appeal would easily clear things up. Have an appeal system with an electronic gatekeeper that scripts can't flood with false appeals, and make account termination the penalty for blatantly falsely reporting someone as RMT. This wouldn't happen a lot because even most trolls aren't that stupid, and this would be a small price to pay to weed out a few of the growing number of rotten people in the game we'd be better off without who might actually try doing this to someone.

That might lessen the invits but not solve the issue. If this were the case then every time you enter Ul'Dah you'd still get auto-targeted and spammed with friend invites. No, I think the other solutions mentioned are far better, including the one you quoted. People should be level 20+ to be able to shout, friend invites should be MUCH easier to manage (see my above post for the bot that was tagging me so quickly I couldn't blacklist him till he logged off), and there should be an option to only accept /tells from friends in the first place - and in that regard it should be friends you've already accepted - not ones that are pending.

This is the first thread that's gone on about 20+ pages with no GM reply... It's REALLY depressing. :/

This weekend I counted every friggin RMT spam that came my way, not including the ones I saw on Shout (thanks the devs for housing areas, where you don't have to tolerate all the shout nonsense). My tally since Friday was 12. That's ALOT for three days (technically 2 1/2)...

It was especially irritating when I was getting help from a FC member on a Weaver rotation... I got three alone before I could complete my recipe.

After moving to Gilgamesh, it's been quiet for me. However when I do get RMT, it's only been 4 letters long. Anyone else getting this?
