I turned off tells. There is the downside that I don't get ones I might want, but it came down to turn them off or quit playing. I adjusted..and I've noticed a lot of people running around with the 'busy' status..which...stops tells. If tells are the main gill seller medium one simple option would solve a very large amount of the problem. A simple option that says "Accept tells from accepted friends only", which would then only allow a tell to you if the person is on your friend list and is there because you have accepted them as a friend, not the pending spammer friend request.

Would it solve all spam no, but for those of us no longer using the broken tell system, we could at least get some from the people we wouldn't mind getting one from.

While I agree with this there is still one problem. The friend invite bots that spam your mail once you accept their request (by accident) due to how complicated they made the system. You have to double confirm to decline a friend request instead of selecting yes or no and that be it. They need to change this as well. The other day I got a friend request. As I declined it, I went into the chatbox to blacklist and as I got the option to do so, he hit me with another friend request and I ended up accepting it by accident and immediately got three emails in my moogle messages. I'd also like to add to have a delete option without opening my moogle mail as well, since I could only delete it after opening the message itself.

I almost feel like SE did this intentionally, especially because they are not addressing the issue.

    Temporary solutions:

    1) Switch off /tell on your main chat, as well as the sound
    2) Make tab purely for /tell
    3) Use this tab to collect RMT and submit it

This at least keeps it off your General chat, and turns off the sound so it won't bug as much. I don't think its the right solution to use, but its something if someone is looking for a current decent solution.

These great solutions trend back almost 2 years and nothing. I've escalated the talk online with a GM and the GM's manager. People, make some noise when you can. It's sad how people respond in support for RMT, and bash those that try to do something. People will be people though.

    1) Make /tell, /yell, or any of the RMT voicing actions should be a simple mission or provided at Level 2, those that sign on as free trial with friends should be able to already have direct contact with friends.
    2) Easier function that allows us to click on the RMT message, rapidly blacklist and immediately report to an in-game GM who can take immediate action, search info on situation.
    3) Increase size of blacklist
    4) Ban names that have been commonly used for RMT

I know, others have posted this, just re-surfacing them

SE needs to take a page from WoW's book and give us options to right click and report a name for spamming immediately, also please add botting to that list.

I've seen so many friggin' grinding bots in this game that it's depressing.

I'll put up with goldseller spam, but competing with a goddamn computer program (that can insta-target even before the mob has loaded in) for grinding mobs that I NEED to grind to craft my wares makes me want to quit the game...

Just reported a bot for the 2nd time in a week that's grinding hyppogrifs in Mor Dhona... :\

It's not just those bots Richard, it's the gathering bots everywhere too. Literally everywhere, I've reported the same one five times, nothing happens, it's still there, botting away happily. Go to the Atheryte in Uldah, and you'll see 1-10 BLM bots standing there, with weird names that end in C, F, or R. Go to Copperbell mine entrance, and you'll often see BLM bots in a loop there, and in the area around it. Go to ANY of the BLM quest spots, and you'll find the bots. SE just can't seem to do that. It's a great game, but holy crap, they put in zero effort to stopping the bots. Zero.

the fact that this has been going on since 2013 and square enix has done nothing to stop this means that they are in fact either incompetent at running their own games and only interested in money. which is part of the reason square enix fails at its games. or they just lack basic knowledge of how to deal with things. there are numerous ways they can stop gil sellers. and sellers in general but to be told "We understand that it is frustrating to have these types of advertisements sent to you. Since RMT can be disruptive both to chat and to the ability to enjoy the game. Unfortunately, due to the number of reports that we have received about this customer, a personal response is not possible at this time. Our efforts are being focused on investigating this advertiser, and preventing them from continuing to advertise in the game." what investigation are you doing? you fail to give your players ANYTHING to show you are investigating when you still haven't done anything for going on 2 years now.... that is pathetic and honestly needs to have people fired. and new help hired. to a player on the outside it seems like it is square enix that is doing the gil selling which if that is the case just make it accessible that way. you don't condone cheating because you have not proven anything that says otherwise. you can easily hire players in game that while they are playing suspend accounts for further investigation by actual employee's for gil selling. but no you don't bother to look at that avenue. here i am alomost 200 players on blacklist and you don't have any function to remove players already banned. or kicked for cheating. 200 characters.... how about getting off your lazy behinds do some actual work and get it done donot come out with new content till you get this resolved because you will loose more players to gil sellers than you will bring in for content.

Wanted to post here to say that it seems like the last few days I've had many more gil sellers contacting me than normal. I would just blacklist them and not complain about it but my blacklist has been full for months, and every time a new gil seller contacts me I have to take a gamble and take someone old off of my blacklist, hoping that they're no longer active.

If nothing can truly be done about gil sellers in a timely matter, I feel like it shouldn't be that hard to just increase (or remove, honestly) the upper limit of blacklisted users. I would really appreciate it!

They need to do what has been done in FFXI for years massive banning across all servers on a weekly bases. FFXI one-line has drastically cut down and almost eliminated rmt they did this by doing massive banning weekly across all servers.

The fact that there are a lit of low level bots means SE is doing its job things wer a little quiet before December.

Also remember its not fully the bots fault too its the people who do buy from them and thusly giving them a reason to keep doing it.

Make the pledge to not buy gil people only real way to win agents them.
