This game lacks life, and I would sacrifice the HD graphics in a heartbeat to get the art that is found in FFXI.

    Give this video a look:

80/100 but you have missed the center.
    This game lacks of history.
There is nothing letting you think "oh the world works in that way".
There are 3 "cities", some npc here and there, some road.
A world is not that, a world has graveyards because people die, a world has mines with miners, a world got farms, a world got ruins from wars and past, a world has merchants and they don't stand 24/24 near a pumpkin and a sack of flour. a world got birds, birds flying in the sky.
When a town is empty, pirates, bandits, monsters take that town as their base. 3 npc and some crab is foolish.

SE said "we have done a lot for history, church, gods and others": where are these things in this world?
I feel like Eorzea was created in september, not ... 5,000,000,000 years ago?

    ^ Absolutely agreed

I wish that you could actually see how that history has unfolded within the actual world outside the cities. But, for the most part all you will see are template copies of Aethyrite camps/Aetherial gates that really have almost know backstory to them whatsoever; they are just there.

Another thing that kind've bugs me are Behests. Is there even a backstory to why we do them at all, besides the fact that animals are procreating too much..?

I have to agree, Theres a lot of scenery enhancements that need to happen.

    Some things I'd suggest.

Limsa Lominsa: Limsa is a sea side grassland on top of rocks. The only way for the grass to populate would be airborne seeds. So there should be plants that look like they are distributing seeds. The air should be filled with a slight pollinated haze Nothing drastic just a subtle bits of pollen and airborne seeds floating about here and there.

Any place where the Sea hits rocks it should crash not "wave about gently" It would only be gentle if it was a lake not the wide ocean.

Definitely add things like whales and large fish floating about when on the boat as well as have the water crash more against the side of the boat.

Ul'dah: lots of things like Vultures, small insects and lizards that fitter about everywhere. Temperate Visual Occurrences. Heat Haze etc.

Gridania: Burn it to the ground and start over.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

They should keep that in mind when they do new zones. Attention to detail is important to us. I don't just wanna spam the game we play ff for the exploration too.

If they want to give us 'atmosphere' they should maybe take some cues and ideas from the good thread we have on this forum, and not from FFXI. (Sorry to say).
Looking at the scenery in XI is just an example of how things should be done in XIV.

I highly doubt that. I've traveled all around XIV and you probably wouldn't be able to make more than a 2 minute video of the type of scenery shown in that video.

Truly stunning game FFXI was. The one thing I miss is just the variety, walking into a new zone or area and being blown away by the uniqueness.

I'm ready for the desperate moves. They should be pulling out a few tricks to keep us falsely happy haha.
