It sounds like your PS3 was on it's last legs to begin with. I can count on one hand the number of freezes I've had with FFXIV. I've had plenty of issues, but that ain't one.

i can actualy believe this. was lucky enough to stumble into the odin event the other day. and the whole event literaly became a slideshow for my pc. the game couldnt even render half the models properly.
GTX680, 8gb ram, i7@ 2.93.

now stop and think how this sort of situation would strain an 8 year old console. you think thats healthy for the hardware lol?!

With PS4 around the corner , im really in no mood to spend money on PS3 when i know I will be buying the PS4 as soon as it comes out.

I'm thinking of getting the PC version as it will be cheaper to buy a game than a console but love the feeling of playing on control pad.

Just google Motion-in-Joy - hook Your PS3 controller to Your PC and after installing FF browse through the options ingame. There is an option somewhere that will change the gamepad symbols to the way they appear on PS3.
The game will play and feel like playing on PS3 but with better grafics.

I would agree with the main sentiment in this thread... your system was already dying. I have played a lot of games that were far more strenuous on my ps3 and several of them would freeze my system every few hours (particularly DCUO). Just say farewell to the ps3 and wait for ps4... or just get the pc version. But yea the law suit thing... not gonna happen.

my PS3 always freezes during the logout process, 9xxx, 3xxx, lod popup,,, :d other than that, the game still playable

There's no causal link. This is merely coincidence. Yes XIV runs the box hot (as do many other games), it's a shame yours died when you were playing XIV though. (Would you be blaming GTA V if it happened while you were playing that?)
