Random characters created without my knowledge

Hi team,

When I logged into FFXIV, I saw a whole bunch of random characters created in different servers (JP, EU, and NA) after this maintenance. Some of the names were random and all level 1 (Fasfwefs Jfeafso, Ffaefawf FJlejfas or similar names were created). Has this happened to anyone else? I was able to delete the ones created in 2 Japanese servers, but I can't touch the ones from the NA and EU because I get the 3102 error.

Yeah, I still cannot log in with my main account. Was my account hacked? Or are these just randomly created by the dev team to test server loads?

You were probably hacked and they were using your account to send spam gold selling messages I would bet.

Those are names similar to gil sellers that have been spamming chat and players in tells. Change your password and open a ticket with SE and explain the situation as they can ban you for it.

Yea, obvious ... uninstall the key logger from your machine, install some anti-virus software, and put a real password on the account.

I'd recommend adding a security token as well (either software or hardware)

I find it bizarre as this happened right after the maintenance. I do have a strong password and security token. I'll open up a ticket with SE I guess. Thanks everyone.

Now that IS a horse of a different color. Strange. The security token, IF enabled, should have to be used in order to even log in to your account. That is seriously worth the SE cs ticket to be opened O.o... hope you get it fixed!
