[ Tiers of Limit Break ]

One of the things I looked forward to the most before playing was seeing the Limit Break system within FFXIV. However after experiencing it, I wonder if I'm the only one who found it pretty underwhelming?

My personal expectation was something along the lines of: Once LB bar is filled, a party member activates a LB ability and then another member would follow it up with his or her own, creating some sort of fusion ability.

While I'm not suggesting SE makes LB according to what I imagined, but I certainly expected more than just 1 person using a slightly higher dps or support skill with no real variety along all the jobs/classes.

Also it's disappointing to see that only during instance parties do you get the ability to use a Limit Break. I mean would anyone else like to see different tiers of Limit Break abilities through out different settings of game play? Such as casual groups in PvE or a two man party or even a solo class/job specific version. With many different classes all with individual Limit Breaks, there could be hundreds of combinations of nice synergy abilities possible.

It'd be so overpowered outside of Dungeons and if people chained them. I think the Limit Breaks as a whole need to be changed for the classes though to kind of reflect the class and offer different bonuses so there's more strategy to use them, like giving Archer/Bard an actual Support Limit Break. Maybe something akin to Bloodlust from WoW?

This is very true and would be a great change. I really hope this is looked into and improved upon.

If I am not mistaken (and I may be cause I have not personally done it but have heard and read about it) if you are in a party outside a dungeon (4 people) you can use limit breaks. I know a few FATE posts that have stated this.

That was indeed what they hinted . That each one of us would have our own limit break and we can use them as a team aswell.

It has been disappointing. I would rather they changed it to individual limit breaks.

I would at least like to see job specific limit breaks. Give Dragoons a cool jump, let SMN call the actual primal to do it's cool attack Ifrit=Hellfire, give scholar an enemy debuff and group dmg+healing buff. It's so sad to see my DRG just swing a giant sword.

Yeah, you can easily tell it was rushed... I hope they flesh it out more as time goes on.

I thought the cross player combos in ffxi were awesome. This is when if different players use skills in a specific order it combos them for more damage. I hope they add something like that to promote group cohesion.

This came up a lot in Beta and it was announced several times that those kinds of interactions were counter to the design philosophy. 1.0 had "skillchains" of sorts with various class abilities between players which were removed in lieu of self-chaining abilities (as in Heavy Shot occasionally grants a bonus to Straight Shot, etc). I wish there was a bit more going on for boss fights where parties synchronized and created big skill chains from limit breaks or magic but from what was said before I don't see that happening.
