They're still tweaking the server loads to make sure they don't crash. This was to be expected because they stated this fact in their updates on the launcher. It may still take a couple of days to flesh out what the servers can handle now.
But why is this still an Error instead of sticking us in a queue? Seriously how difficult can that be, every other company on the planet seems to have figured out how to make a working queue. This is pretty basic stuff.
Because queues put load on the servers also. This error you're getting is intentional. Think of the servers like a water balloon. When you fill the balloon up with water, you don't put the tap on full stream, you keep it slow and steady until you get to the point where you think the balloon can't handle anymore water... They're just going to slowly open up the servers to more people, they just can't do it all at once. Server load basics right there.
Nevertheless, they halted sales of the digital copy. They know exactly the number of people that the game has to support, and should have upgraded not only the capacity for concurrent connections on the servers, but also the capacity for the queue itself. Project management basic right there.Because queues put load on the servers also. This error you're getting is intentional. Think of the servers like a water balloon. How the is that a serious load? The server is already handling AI, game physics, character input, updating the client with all relevant data, etc. The operation of the queue should be so minimal in comparison that it should be virtually non-existent.Because queues put load on the servers also. Besides, if management of the queue is so intense, I would think it could just be on a separate piece of hardware if you're so worried about it impacting the gameplay of clients currently in the game and playing.
If you make an MMO, and your solution to the too many log ins problem is that you can only have a few hundred people in the queue, I think you've done something horribly, horribly wrong.
You just answered your own question. Most people don't understand how an MMO functions. You don't know what SE is doing, or how or why they're doing it, so instead of complaining on here, why not get a refund and stop playing if it's not up to your liking?
I do know I keep getting an error MSG when I try to log into the game (1017). It says to me that SE is having trouble operating a queue, which their competitors don't seem to have a problem with. It's very disappointing, not instill confidence in Square, and is effecting my decision to resub at the end of the month. I figure the Tech Support forum is as good a place as any to communicate that to them since it seems like something SE might be interested in (since it might effect subscriptions).
On the other hand, you don't really sound like you know what you're talking about. So what are you doing here exactly? Official SE apologist?
