Reality Check, what last nights maintenance really did for you.

If you read all the updates carefully then you know that they've been very careful with their words.

In spite of that, most of the people coming to these forums to complain about the continued inability to make characters on certain worlds or log in are defaulting to really silly assumptions.

As has been said before, these worlds were previously designed to have a maximum of 5000 concurrent connections. This is really a standard considering how the way most other developers (ie Cryptic) avoid this is by designing the game to have multiple channels.

SE may have been able to stretch their limit to make things better but right now the biggest problem is actually player driven.

I just read the Hyperion thread and honestly, I had a good laugh. Someone said they don't like that a company is forcing them to have to relocate to a different server?

Especially in the example of Hyperion, it is completely unreasonable to assume that SE is ever going to be able to make it so everyone who wants to play there will never have issues making characters or log in.

In time this problem will solve itself in another player driven way. When launch hype is done and people stop playing 20 hours a day.

But until then, if you continue to try to force yourself onto an overpopulated server then you are only really making this more stressful on yourselves.

I'm willing to bet your one of the same people who complain in a Wal-Mart if they don't have enough registers open lol by your logic this is a customer issue abs not a company but it's unrealistic to expect them to have more than 4 open despite having 30 in front if you. It'll get better if less people shop at the same time of day lol the world doesn't work like that and a business can't either

People payed to play with their friends, getting on the same server with character creation or allowing free transfers for those that couldn'ts is not us expecting to much it's us getting a service we paid for

And no seven free days of service is not equal to allowing a free transfer, that's not the same

Dude, all the servers are overpopulated. For North America, with the exception of the new Famfrit server I don't think anybody can make a new character anywhere. You can call it a "player driven" problem if you want, but claiming that the solution is for people to stop playing the game is completely inane. It's like saying if the buses are too full, the only solution is for people to stop taking the bus.

Also, people playing fewer hours each day would do absolutely nothing to solve the issue of disabled character creation. The only way to free up space for new characters on a full server, is for characters to leave that server. They are still taking up a spot, regardless of how often they are online. And if they give a damn about encouraging people to move to a less over-populated server, it's on Square Enix to:
1) Present the possibility of there even being a non-overpopulated server in existence
2) Allow for free server transfers (with reasonable limitations)

What did the maintenance do for me? Let's see... At 2pm EST, I signed right it. No queue, no errors...

The day before the maintenance, I spammed to log in for 2.5 hours before I got lucky. The server was full from 6am until 2am the next morning.

Since I signed in, I have ran all the way through cutter's cry and finished up a storyline instanced battle.

I have watched many people in my FC say "holy crap, I signed right in!"...

I am sure some people are still having issues, but all I am seeing is good.

Let alone finishing an instance without disconnecting.

Managing customers expectations AS WELL as managing their server loads to ensure a equitable access of the service to ALL customers is their job. PR for them is not yours.
