Today was my first personal encounter with Odin, and there are definitely some interesting things about him.
His FATE will occur once in a rare occasion, something like 48+ hours between respawn, and there are something like a dozen spawn locations all over the Black Shroud's zones. (AKA roaming primal)
I encountered him just east of Haukke Manor.
He has massive AOEs, and not always around his spot: he can throw red ring aoe damage to multiple distant targets.
His HP is phenomenally high, and most AOEs will take over 50% hp of the average player, and can kill many.
He spawns several Gungnir spears throughout the fight, which must quickly be destroyed to avoid the extra damage they cause.
At 5% HP, he becomes immune to all normal melee and magic damage, and begins charging Zantezuken. At this stage the only damage that can kill him is from limit breaks, so parties are pretty much the only ones who can do the final damage to kill him before Zantezuken goes off.
Zantezuken is guaranteed wipe of people in range, as well as a guaranteed end/failure of the FATE.
3 notes come to mind here:
Point 1: Parties or don't participate. Your participating solo in the FATE is undermining everyone elses' ability to win, as Odin's HP scales with the number of participants, and every time he is killed in the future, SE has hinted that he will grow stronger in spite of solo players boosting his stats.
Point 2: Parties or don't participate. Only Limit Break can kill him, so why bother, unless you enter the fight in a party, ready to build your bar.
Point 3: Parties or don't participate. Every player surrounding Odin can quickly get you to the game's proximity spawn limit (even on high-end pcs, trust me on this), which means his AOEs can hit you, but you can't target him, and even party members will have difficulty targeting each other for heals and raises.
If anyone else has comments, suggestions or ideas of use in this topic, please feel free to reply.
Happy hunting!
