What happened to monsters visiting you?

I always wondered why creatures such as dodos, goats, galagos, etc. don't stroll up to you and stare you anymore? I always thought it was kind of cute in a way, and I liked how the creatures *kind of* interacted with you, without actually having to fight them.

Or maybe I'm the only one that this happens to now o.o

Is there any reason they don't do this anymore? I miss it..

That behavior was removed in a previous patch, I think it was due to the complaints about it making AOE attacks difficult. Nothing like getting ready to AOE nuke a group of leve mobs and having a couple of dodos come over to join in the fun! >.<

It was really cute though, I miss Opo-opos following me around in the cellars and having goats come watch me mine. xD Then again I didn't really have the AOE issue so I'm sure a lot of people were happy about the change.

Yep behavior was removed like Fleur said. It was considered annoying to a lot of players due to exactly what Fleur said also the AOEs and such. I did toggle on/off before, but I just thought too many mobs followed, or the mobs that followed had too many of them around like nannygoats, there would be like 4 of them following my party. In XI mandy's followed, I thought this should of been a specific mob trait by a few rare mobs, not completely ousted lol.

Yeah, as zavier says... this 'all or nothing' approach to modifying features (EVERYTHING has to be bigger, NONE of the follow-creatures should follow anymore) is beginning to get a bit worrisome >.>

It'd be nice if a few specific creatures still did it - and the behavior would have been a hundred times less annoying if the enemies did it didn't get right up in your face, and stood a foot or so away instead (not least because then it'd be significantly easier to manage AoE inspite of their interest).

I am sure they will bring this back once they make their changes to the claim system, so it wouldnt matter if those cute adorable dodos get hit by your aoe, maybe we will get sp off that then.

And of course, if they would run away when they get close to battle, as they should do, there wouldn't be an issue.

Well that explains why they don't follow anymore, for the AOE reason. Thanks for explaining this everyone! Sadly I still have AOE difficulties, even without the creatures following me : /

I liked finding a secluded place to craft, and having an opo or dodo stare at me while doing so XD If they do bring this back, then yeah maybe only a few monsters should do it, and not so many. I also like the idea of them fleeing from a nearby battle.
