The game is made so you can quickly swap jobs/classes at (almost) any given moment. I can't really imagine sticking to any of them permanently.

For me personally I love SCH as I love being a healer but I wish BRD was more of a true support class rather than a DD with support abilities. I would love to main as SCH and then make BRD my sub job. (sub as in second main not sub as in FFXI)
In general, SE please make real support classes!!
Try something out that you don't think you'd like, and it might surprise you.
I prefer Mages, and played one for the entire beta, so I decided in order to refresh the game for myself, I'd play a Pugilist.
I'm very glad I did.
I haven't had this much fun with melee since my old TBC Rogue, back when Rogues were actually useful in that game. Plus with cross-class abilities I can bring Protect, Feint and Raise to the table so I can help everyone else out.

I originally wanted to roll Archer with the intent of becoming a Bard for Launch, because I love playing support classes, and as of the Closed Beta the Bard was in fact Support. But just before it came time to Launch SE changed that around, likely due to a majority of testers wanting to be ranged physical damage dealers. I can't blame those that want to be B.A. walking artillery pieces, but this change crushed my ambitions to level Archer.
Why not have a fork in the Archer road? We could have Bard for full support, and Ranger for DPS. Wouldn't that be nice?

I have the opposite problem. I like ALL the classes D:
Could it be because the real fun starts at level 50, not pre-50?Has anyone else had a crap of a time trying to choose a main class? For some strange reason, none of the classes have struck me as "Yes, this is what I want to play." I've leveled nearly every class to the 20-34 range and none has really stuck out to me. Its really a strange feeling when you like the game but just can't find that class that makes you happy.
Hang around, get a few classes to 50 and join up some end game content. You will see.
All the battles, down to the last percent of HP, the last man/women standing, the last cast, the last second stats doesn't start until then.

I, too, wish BRD was more of a support class. Its what I played in Beta and I really wanted to be the class with the awesome songs. . . and now I get a Ranger who sings. =\For me personally I love SCH as I love being a healer but I wish BRD was more of a true support class rather than a DD with support abilities. I've tried every class and I don't think there is a class I dislike. Its not that the classes are bad in anyway. Just none have really made an impression on me. I've been randomly leveling classes for the cross class skills.
I had a friend who was hating bard at early levels but was the only kind of class he enjoyed do such with it, at 50 he said the class completely changed for him and is absolutely in love with bard now. You may want to level one to 50 and see what happens
While I do agree with you to an extent, I don't think a class should be fun only at 50. I've never played any MMO where the fun only came at max level so I don't think its the content but rather the classes I cannot truly click with. I never said I wasn't enjoying the content and having fun cause trust me I am but I think the majority of the fun you are talking about comes from the content.Could it be because the real fun starts at level 50, not pre-50?

With everyone mentioning BRD, it sorta makes me want to try and max it but I really wanted a Brd to be about the songs rather than the "Ranger who thinks s/he sings" we currently have.
I don't think this is the issue. They've specifically avoided making the jobs varied and well-defined so that they don't have to worry about balance. I hope enough people start feeling this so that they're pushed to inject some flavor into them. The way they went about this is pretty cheap; just avoid balance issues altogether so you don't have to worry tuning things or having people pick favorites. It could just be a consequence of how quickly they had to get the game together for relaunch, but I certainly hope people take this gripe to them so they don't just sit on it. In addition to this, the abilities and stats themselves are also very stale.
One of the obvious contributing factors is that the abilities meant to define the jobs are set on timers that end up being feeling inconsequential because they're used so infrequently relative to the "core" class commands that all act very similarly. If you're DPS, you spam a three move combo with 150, 200, 250 w/e damage with your choice of a lighter debuff attack when wanted. DRG is one of the few jobs that actually has cool defining abilities, but a DRG is still more defined by the same old three move combo than it is by the rare Jump sprinkled in whenever it's available.
